Have you ever been to any of the US' Pacific territories? 1

By that, I don't mean Hawaii, I mean Guam, American Samoa or Norther Mariana Islands. I've always found them fascinating. Any American can go and settle in any of them tomorrow.

My father was stationed in the Philippines (Clark Air Base) when I was a very young child. My mother and I were there with him. A volcano erupted (Mount Pinatubo) and the entire base was evacuated back to the US and on the way we spent a couple nights in Guam. Keep in mind I was super young but I remembered it being really nice. And fancy. Everything looked expensive.

I’ve been to Hawaii and it was awesome! If you need to score weed just go to the beach and find a bunch of locals and that’s where they sell weed believe it or not.
Quickest place I ever scored black market bud and just had an amazing time

That's pretty wild. Not many can say they're a volcano survivor. I think Guam is the most well-off of all of our territories, too.

That's the one thing I envy about the US, being able to go to all these far-reaching tropical places and be in the same country. The idea of inviting some little Caribbean island nation to merge into Canada has been tossed around but it never comes together.

Guam sucks... seriously if you are there for more than a few days, you will have officially exhausted anything their is possibly to do. Oh, and the prostitutes are disease riddled, military stationed their are warned of that.

Some of those remote Pacific Islands fascinate me. Not American territories specifically, but the ones where the closest civilization is a three day boat ride to Samoa. It must be tough to grow up out that way..you're connected enough to the world to know how disconnected you are. I'm sure it's paradise for some, but for kids that seems rough.

I actually read a great article a while back about these teenagers who got lost at sea for 50 days because they were from one of those uber remote islands, and they were just so incredibly bored that they just wanted to go somewhere else.

Some family lived in Guam and Solomon islands for a while. Saw cool pics and heard nothing but good things about the people. Lots of spiders. USA detonated a fuck load of nuclear bombs all over the area. I wonder what the radiation levels are like currently.

GQ has some great writers honestly.
https://www.gq.com/story/death-grip-corpse-meditation
I don't mean to segue off topic, but here's my favorite article I've read on there. It's about corpse meditation(basically locking yourself in a room with a dead decaying body in the heat, with the bugs, and holding hands with it for a few hours lol) in Thailand. Interesting stuff.

I wouldn't mind making them fully fledged states as long as we could improve the fuck out of them. It'd be nice to have a bunch of different variations of hawaii to go to, you know? I mean, I know it's not the same thing, but you get the idea, a bunch of islands you could go visit.
But we'd have to seriously improve the fuck out of them first because a lot of them are shitholes right now.
Also let's take mexico and central and south america while we're at it. And hell let's invade and take over cuba too. Let's make it like a nice round 100 states. Manifest destiny the fuck out of those places and shit.

Just make the drive safer from the usa to costa rica, and it should be pretty cool.
Driving from the United States to Costa Rica is an adventure best undertaken with patience, a sense of humor, and about two weeks of free time. From the U.S. border at Brownsville, Texas to the Nicaraguan-Costa Rican border at Penas Blancas, the distance totals almost 2,300 miles.
Can you drive from NYC to Costa Rica? Yes, the driving distance between New York to Costa Rica is 6475 km. It takes approximately 3 days 8h to drive from New York to Costa Rica. ... There are 50+ hotels available in Costa Rica.
Can you drive from Canada to Costa Rica? Can I drive from Toronto to Costa Rica? Yes, the driving distance between Toronto to Costa Rica is 6716 km. It takes approximately 3 days 6h to drive from Toronto to Costa Rica.

Lets just hope that Cuba isn't as melicious and vindictive as their lunatic neighbours to the north. If they were they would take this opportunity to absolutely cover your country from head to toe with the Covid and totally fuck your economy, like your cunting governments have done theirs ever since the revolution. Bastardos.

Gentrification isn't necessarily bad IMHE. It can be of course, but you can't fight "progress".
There is good evidence from aggregate and individual‐level analyses for a relationship between “inward” mobility, poverty status, and area gentrification. In addition, people moving to gentrifying areas were more likely to have a university degree and more likely to be in the professional occupational class than people who moved to nongentrifying comparison areas.
On the other hand, no such relationships are found for “outward” mobility. The strongest evidence is found for “exclusionary displacement” (the restricted ability of low‐income households to move in to an area) rather than “direct displacement” (increased outward mobility of existing residents) as the dominant driver of gentrification in this period.
