First time cultivating. Fruiting taking longer then expected...

I'm a first time grower and I've tried to follow everything I've read on this website to a tee. I inoculated 6 jars and watched them slowly colonize for weeks with no signs of contams, waited a week for them to consolidate, dunked them for 24 hours, rolled them in fresh verm and put them in my SGFC expecting them to start pinning in a few days. It's now been a week with very little to show. There are a few visible pins on a couple of the cakes, but that's about it. Is this to be expected, or am I doing something wrong? Here are some pictures of them I took about an hour ago. (Sorry they're all sideways. My bad.)

How does the perlite feel to the touch? Is it still as damp/moist as after you hydrated it or has it dried out some? My tip is to always mist the perlite daily to ensure it hasn't dried out too much on the surface. It's not uncommon for SGFC cakes to take a couple of weeks before they come to life and find the micro climate needed. So my tip is to check on the perlite and see how it's surface conditions are and that will tell you something about the general evaporation rates off the cakes. Gl

I just checked it and the perlite seems decently damp. Does the setup I have look like it might need any tweaks? I've got my SGFC in a storage room in my house, so I'd be able to control the temp and humidity a little better then if it was in a room that's in use. Also, I've been misting the cakes about 3-4 times a day and fanning them with the lid for a few seconds after. They're on a 12/12 timer with a 6500k lamp hanging about a foot above the SGFC. Just trying to make sure I'm not fuckin anything up. Any tips are very appreciated. Thanks for the reply!

Remember that there's no fixed amount of time that you'll need to spray, it all depends on the surface conditions of the cakes. Some days will require more some less but you have to take notice of the micro climate on your cakes surface daily to begin to form an understanding of the evaporation going on, this is your indicator on how often to mist. Do you have any visual indicators you go by when deciding to mist?

I usually just look at the verm on the cakes to see if they still look damp or not. I try to look for a bit of a shine, but I guess I still haven't really developed an eye for it. As for how much to mist, I never know how much is too little or too much.

The way I'd describe a desirable surface micro climate is the one that has tons of these tiny micro droplets that rest on the substrate surface without ever merging with one another to create pools nor ever penetrating the surface tention of the myc thus getting absorbed by the myc (not good for the micro climate on surface) and surface conditions are easily damaged by too much standing water on top of the substrate that evaporates off too slowly.
This is how my cakes look for the most part during fruit formation and it always works out for me. Zoom in on the pics to observe the barely visible micro climate on the surfaces.
