Are Sterilized Rye Berries harder to inoculate from spores? - 10 days and no sign of growth in 5 bags.

This is only my second time doing this. First time I used Vespco bags on Etsy. That time I had no problem growing from spores into all 3 of the bags - 75% milo, 25% millet.
He raised his shipping prices to $50 so this time I bought from ShroomSupply. I bought 5- 1lb Sterilized Rye Berries - Grain Spawn. I used the whole syringe evenly but haven't seen any indication of growth and it's been 10 days. Was this a mistake to use Rye berries? Spores were GT.

Spores are always a crapshoot in every way including germination time. Contamination in the rye or moisture content can also effect things. Spores to grain bags will always be a coin flip at best and no one even slightly serious about the hobby would use them.

This is the reply I've needed to hear. Because I've always wanted to move on to LC or Agar but never get around to it. So I just ended up using the syringe.
I know this is covered extensively, but since you've already done a good job at kicking my rear, in your opinion, which method is the least involved for someone needing to take the leap but has little time? thanks

Agar is the best way to germinate spores. Use the agar to create LI, start a LC, put a wedge to a master or whatever. BRF cakes are about the only thing I would recommend putting spores to directly.

Just start with agar and progress into LIs and LCs later on. Agar is important to understand how contamination happens and to clean up your shit.

Thanks, I will do this. I wish I knew of local places to easily buy premade dishes. I'm sure I'll make my own in the future, but as I keep waiting do to so I'm just wasting time.
