Psilocybe subaeruginosa In South Australia ID Request
    #26733272 - 06/10/20 02:38 AM (3 years, 7 months ago)

Hi there! Beginner on the site and fairly beginner in picking.
Went looking for subs today around Deep Creek area and believe i found a bunch but am looking for a more experienced look on each. I have numbered every single one and got decent photos.

Habitat: Densely packed pine forest, shorter trees - likeley see's very little sun and stays pretty damp.

Photos: Photos were taken around an hour/two hours after finishing the picking session. I kept them in the footwell with heater on in my car to dry them out abit on the way back. Any questions I'm happy to answer, Thanks again!

My main concern is that almost all if not all show bruising on the gills/stems of blueish/black. As you will see some stems are more brown and some gills slightly darker if not very black. I have deduced that shrooms 1-5 are dicey but im pretty confident the others are good. Once again, really looking for an experienced opinion, not super keen on fucking myself up

Welcome to the Shroomery

They're all subs.

Smell em. They should all smell the same (I'd describe the smell as the opposite to nice...). You'll see what I mean.

Subs have very firm caps and stems when bent (unless they are really watery, which I find is rarely the case) and have a slight rubbery feel.

If I were you I'd use scissors to cut off the black parts and eat the rest.

Enjoy :awesome:

That's good to hear! The feel and consistency of the stem and cap definitely match your description, especially now they're abit drier, had em in the fan for 30-1hr. Just in terms of the stems being slightly brown and darker (almost no white) is this just due to oxidation/age as they were more white when I first picked them up. Almost left them in fact.
Thanks!
