Thanks, I'm slightly colour blind which fucks with me a little here, thought they looked promising. Sorry to pollute the season thread, I'll get back in my clown car and keep hunting

Hey dolanduck merauder (doh sorry for he mixup). . . Those aren't subs or active in my opinion.
As the thread title states 'no I'd requests'. Can you edit the post to remove the pics and start an ID thread. This thread is for real actives so people know what to look for and understand the colours and forms that they take.

@merauder cheers for being so cooperative and cool about it if every beginner was like you some of us would be a lot less grouchy in here
The mushrooms you posted were Leratiomyces ceres by the way. Common lookalike.

Thanks for the ID, much appreciated, that's going to be helpful for the weeks ahead
And sorry again - I got a little excited (I'm sure everyone's been there) but there was also a time factor at play as there was a gardening maintenance crew headed to the area, so I was trying to think and act quickly to find out if anything in the area needed liberation.. which clearly affected my judgement!

Thanks @Dolanduck it’s been twenty years since I was a regular hunter but it’s just like riding a bike. So much easier now with all the wood chip beds around. Used to have to spend hours in the forest.

Been having a lot more luck today. Went through tons of parks on Sunday and yesterday, but found nothing. Today I went and turned up two separate spots with dry, sunbleached subs:

 First, this small haul.
Then, this larger one (by my standards at least).

The daytime photo was actually taken yesterday, and I walked away from that site without taking a single mushroom. I thought they were too pale to be subs, but have since seen pics of others finding subs that looked very like them. I went back tonight and grabbed them.
The really freaking cool part is, they are just over 200m from my house. If the patch has survived this long without being discovered by anyone else, I think I'm pretty safe.

First I encountered some Psilocybe tasmaniana

Just slim pickings as far as tasmaniana goes. Found a grand total of 4 specimens at a random slope near my house. Such a fat yield! Not...
Hey Roger always great photos! Are tasmaniana the same potency by weight as subs? Do they bruise blue? Is there an identifying characteristic you look for?
Agreed about the low yield season. I'm down by half the previous two seasons. Is it just me or is the season getting shorter and the competition getting tougher?

funny (not funny) story once upon a time long ago SWIM did a lemon tek with 3gm dried of Leratiomyces cause SWIM was a noob at the time (and colourblind). Sometimes you come across dead lookalikes for subs. Spores same colour as p. Subs interestingly,
