Agar vs ms syring
    #26732297 - 06/09/20 06:39 PM (3 years, 7 months ago)

Ok so I'm trying to wrap my head around my results of my Ms syringe yeilding more than my agar tub.so I know the benefits of agar are to have pre germinated myc an to visual see if u have a clean cluture and are fastest colinizing qt jars. I know agar can produce larger and more consistent flushes but that's not the case I'm experiencing. So I'm wondering why excatly. Same amount of spawn same sized bins same amount of spawn but yeilding less than my Ms tubs. Thank you if u can provide info on this

I'm not really sure what you mean by "agar tub". Unless you cloned tissue or isolated a strain it is still considered "multispore" even when you put it to agar. If you just germinated spores...made a few transfers then nocc'ed up some grain jars...it is still a multispore inoculation. Agar in it of itself does not produce larger and more consistent flushes...the ability to clone and isolate on agar MAY give larger and more consistent flushes. It's not the agar per se...but what you can accomplish with it.

All that. Plus your risk of getting zero fruits from the syringe was high. Then you'd be thankful for your agar tub and looking to improve yield.

Some control vs no control.

I would conjecture that the mycelium in the MS tub is just stronger than your 'clone'.  Clone some of the better, earlier fruits for the next round.

The fruits I choose were pretty big from a second flush they weren't fully matured the veils didn't crack on the ones I choose but they were like 4in tall. So your saying choose from a smaller one or a big pin. I read you don't wanna do that cause u can't tell if it will become a nice sized fruit.or is it that pins have more aggressive growth witch would produce larger flushes

An I also read if you use a species that is in demand and sells quick on the vendors they also produce bigger flushes biggest first flush was 140 grams dry from a pe Ms syringe any other species it's Ben 112g dry give or take

At the end of the day this stuff is not as cut and dry as you may be thinking. You basically need to do a lot of experimentation and try to keep and multiply the cultures you find to be the best. Dont hang up too much on how you ended up with it, just take it. Theres way too many variables at play to make too many plans for stuff.

Ya that's what I figured I just took a clone that came out to be an ok fruiter IV done alot of Ms monotubs very few clone tubs I just expected heavier yeild they yeilded like 84g 112g off first flush.round same as Ms I guess experimenting to find good culture that will be big fruiter ain't a bad thing.i just don't know why Ms syringes people say are not as good wen I get consistent flushes that weight same as my agar

MS is fine. Its syringes that are a gamble. Keep at it and you'll find why sooner than later. Because of contamination not yield.
