Any person, actually intent on protecting and serving, that wasn't morally corrupt, would have helped the guy regardless of what their buddy says to do.
Only 2 cops were relieved of duty but all 57 remaining members of the task force resigned in solidarity for them and they were cheered outside of the court house.
For what? Assaulting an old man and then stepping over him as he bled out? If a task force has 60 members and 57 resign in solidarity for people who abuse the elderly then it's definitely more than a few bad apples.
The bad apples have ruined the entire bunch and it's time to put them in the trash and get some new apples in and maybe put some precautions in to keep them from rotting.
Watch the clip again. A lot of people missed this. If you pay attention, he walks up to two cops. A third walks up behind the other two. The first two push the old man and it's one of the guys that pushed the guy that tried to stop, and the third guy who stopped him from kneeling down. I can't speak with any certainty but it seemed like to me he was trying to deescalate, and then when something happened he made sure the dickhead stayed away from him. Cops do have some medical training he could very well be aware that the man should be left alone, the guy who knelt down also had something in his hand. Definitely could have been construed as further aggression
Except that 2 seconds later a member of what appears to be national guard kneels down to assist him. Cop could have at least checked vitals but didnt bother.

Pretty bad when a soldier that's trained to kill has more human compassion than a cop who's trained to "protect and serve"

What about making the people cops in the neighborhood they grew up in and hopefully live in? Maybe hire the locals to police the locals?

i have way more faith in our military to protect their people than any police. know some people in active duty right now. i would like to believe that they would open fire on their commanding officers before unarmed civilians at a protest

We already discussed how that would be a terrible idea. If you think the cops are racist, biased, and violent, wait until you meet some of the people from the south.

is the whole thing. There's a reason cops are armed. Mass shootings are happening all the time and who is going to stop that? A non violent solution?
There is No non violent solution to law enforcement. They MUST be armed.

education is the primary solution but that takes time and we dont have a lot of that. we will have to resort to love

I can see many pitfalls with the idea, but there can be a lot of strengths as well. It would take time.

It's this shit right here that needs to begin the changing/reform.
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/too-smart-to-be-a-cop/
Jordan was deemed too smart for the police force because he received a high score on an intelligence test. Jordan, then 45, scored a 33, the equivalent of having an IQ of 125.
The average score nationally for police officers as well as for office workers, bank tellers and salespeople is 21 or 22, the equivalent of having an IQ of 104.
The city's rationale for the long-standing practice is that candidates who score too high could get bored with police work and quit after undergoing costly academy training.
Not to mention harder to control/mindfuck and keep in line for the "job".

I remember that shit.
Most places that recognize that someone is too smart to be a grunt gears them towards working into something higher. Management or detective or something.

Fiery: I'm from Texas, and I am way too familiar with OK, AR, etc....it's a whole different universe down in there. I lived in rural SE OK for 4.5 years getting my RN degree, and let me tell you, racism is alive and doing very well there.

I don't really follow what you're trying to say here. Don't police there already tend to be from that general region of the country?

Nah. Not for large cities, usually. I used to bartend and there'd be cops there every night while we counted drawers(fun fact! we also had a policy not to ID anyone unless specifically told by management, I definitely served underaged kids infront of cops so I have no idea what was going on there), and I would chit chat with them a bit. Think maybe out of all of them that would stop by there was one that lived in the city proper.
