Tiny mushrooms in both flushes

Hey everyone!
I'm currently on the second flush of a cake and the third flush of another one.
Both have been in the same conditions. However, one of them has only produced really small mushrooms that open their veil without having grown much. The other cake produced way bigger mushrooms.
Is this caused by genetics?
Thank you!

More likely the cake is too wet, but could be genetics too. How did you inoculate? How did you rehydrate after first flush?

Thanks for your help!
Excess water in the cake is possible, although I find that weird because I've done exactly the same with both cakes (they're rye grow kits with vermiculite on top): 1) Dunk over night before putting into fruiting 2) Fruit 3) Harvest 4) Dunk over night 5) Fruit
During the firs flush I barely misted at all and now I'm watching the surface conditions closely and only misting when the tiny droplets are gone.
It's weird because the mushrooms do have fuzzy feet (which makes me think there's enough moisture) and at the same time the surface droplets evaporate daily.
I'm pretty sure they used a multispore syringe for inoculation but I can't be sure.
What makes me think it's genetic is the fact that the other "cake" produced a normal yield in the same conditions.
Thanks again!

Sounds like you did it right, fuzzy feet is usually caused by high humidity/not enough FAE but also genetics can play a part as well.
Nothing else to do apart from letting it fruit and maybe try a shorter dunk next flush then see how it goes from there.

Thank you! I will try that.
Should I keep misting whenever the surface droplets are gone even if they have fuzzy feet?
I read a lot of posts where people say there should always be tiny droplets on the surface.
For FAE I have it dub tubbed with the tub on top slightly offset so there's a small gap.

If the full pinset has developed and its mainly fruits growing then you don't need to mist, and sometimes you can't because of all the mushrooms in the way. The mushrooms get their moisture mostly from the cake, the Misting is just to get a pinset but no harm in keeping it misted during the fruiting if you think it's getting abit dry.
If the fuzzy feet and if you get long skinny fruits that's a indication it needs more fea... Like they are trying to get to better conditions(fruiting in the dark does the same)

Nice, thank you for clearing that up.
I'm not sure if the full pinset has developed because it seems to "come in waves", especially on this substrate that is producing mainly small mushrooms. There are some mushrooms that are mature, while others are just starting to pin, so I'll keep lightly misting, without soaking it.
