ID REQUEST - SW MELBOURNE VIC
    #26727027 - 06/07/20 04:37 PM (3 years, 8 months ago)

Habitat:
Pine plantation, grass shrub

Gills:
Milky brown

Stem:
Solid, thick, white with a bit of brown at the bottom

Cap:
Some were dome shaped which is what I was used to getting, but some bigger ones were wavy, maybe because they were older

Spore print color:
Not done

Bruising:
Dark blue to blackish (is this a sign of mould if they are black)

Prettty sure they are subs but wanting some confirmation.

All Are Psilocybe Subaeruginosa, Nice Finds

Pic #3 Is A Sterile Specimen Of Psilocybe Subaeruginosa. Sterile = Little To No Spores.

None Are Moldy, All Are Fine & Good To Eat

Just out of curiosity, how do you identify a sterile sub? Are they common?

The gills stay a light creamy colour after maturing & the general absence of spores..
I’ve seen them a number of times but am not sure how common they are.

Interesting, I've found a few subs like this before and was confused as to why their gills remained a lighter shade, good to know.

Judging from id requests, I'd say sterile subs are fairly common.

They are not really common, but not rare either.
