another bad pic, some libs.
I picked them the other day and was wondering how long before I could go back to thew same spot and get some more. I really don't have a clue, a few days/weeks? I cut them and didn't pull up the root system. I did a search but couldn't find anything relevent to psilocybe semilanceata. Any ideas would be helpfull, thanx.

You really do not need to cut p liberty caps. They do not grow in manure but attached theirselves to the roots of wild grasses (sedge, etc).
And you can go back every day or everyothyer day. They come up day in and day out until the season wanes and is finally over.

I'd go back every few days or so. Like MJ said they fruit continuously (the feild does anyway, the individual patches produce flushes) but still they don't rot too fast so I'd use that time to find other patches or explore other fields then come back in a few days.
If you visit your patch often try to keep your impact to a minimum, the less you step on the patch the more it'll fruit.

Thanks MJ and Stipe, very helpful. This is from the same spot 3 days later with very little rain.
Faslimy- I'm down near Dunedin but about 30 mins out.

Hi, you do not need to cut the liberty cap shrooms. just lightly pluck them gently from the earth. They grow with their mycelia attached to the roots of wild grasses. Sedge for instance.
Anyway,, thyey grow every day with fresh rain for the total length of the shroom seasson. APril through June-July until it is too hot for them.
mj
You can read about them int he archives here. I popsted a paper on the ethnomycology of the liberty cap written by Dr. Steven Pollock. It is posted here and at my forum at the nansnook.com site in the Journals Tales of the Shrooms.
mj
Or read the page posted here int he Ultmate shrooemry guide in the species ID section.
mj
20-40 fresh shrooms, woith the cut off parts?
1/3 fresh ounce or so.
mj and one dried gram or as much as 2 dried for a potent visual trip.
mj
This one is for Joshua,

They do. In northern hemisphere. But these were found in New Zealand, where it's autumn in April.
