My dog takes K9 Advantix doses regularly will that be enough for if I want to take him deep in the woods? Or should I use some Permethrin and/or spray some spearmint oil on his collar too.

Psalm 12:6 The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Hebrews 11:3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. Permethrin probably won't hurt the dog unless it's allergic.
DON'T LET IT GO SWIMMING. Permethrin is horribly toxic to aquatic life.

I once went to a rainbow gathering in Utah and got scabies. I tried getting rid of it with tea tree but decided to go and get permethrin.
if I had to do it again id wait longer to see if the tea tree worked. I was traveling and didn't want it to disrupt my rides so I just went and got the meds.

im pretty sure I got it from letting someone play my guitar. It started in the crook of my index and thumb right where I grip the fretboard then spread up my arm.

I literally had to tell the doctor what it was and what I needed, he was like let me look it up. then he came back and was like, dude, youre right, heres your prescription.

So my dog also takes an oral dose for flea and tick, and it's my understanding that even if he gets bitten by a tick what will happen is that the tick will die before it can transmit any diseases(which takes a fairly long time for actual transmission to occur).
At the moment I just use that . I also let him swim in a stream every time we're done with a hike and as a result I never find ticks on him now oddly enough.

I listen to my vet . I've used the topical form(to be clear I am NOT talking about permethrin, I definitely do not feed my dog that lol) too and I was still constantly picking ticks off, which are a really huge issue in my state in general - as is tick borne illness. It's super bad here. You walk through some tall grass without protection and it's a feeding frenzy, much less spending hours in the woods.
Though this year it's not as bad where I am. I think it's due to a really a frost and some snow in May.

Guys this thread is 5 years old.
That being said, do not use permethrin on your pet. It's okay of they are exposed to it if it is dried. Cats shouldn't be exposed wet or dry. It will cause cns problems and they will most likely die. I imagine the same happens for dogs if they come in contact with wet permethrin. Idk if they make trail booties for doggos but I'd spray permethrin on those.

Looks like you can spray this stuff on dogs. I have sawyer brand but the box claims to not expose your canine to it wet. They must have changed the formula.
