Went on a little hike today...
    #26727307 - 06/07/20 06:43 PM (3 years, 7 months ago)

It's been raining 4 days straight here in Central Florida, check out today's finds.
Just trying to make my own desktop wallpapers.

These Mycena, I couldn't decide whether to go with natural light and wider aperture or diffused flash with less aperture.
So both are included, which is the best photo?
(1)(2)(3)

Boletus sp.

Ramaria sp. (probably not, I really don't know yet)

Asclepias tuberosa, native FL milkweed.

I got so excited when I found this Amanita, I found one of these around 4 years ago, and haven't seen one since.
This one was under Quercus cerris, same as the last one I found.
Amanita sect. lepidella

Fresh Stereum ostrea

Gymnopus sp.

I found one of those amanita in sec lepidella last year that was absolutely monstrous, literally 13 inches across the cap and 18 inches tall.
I hope you keep us entertained with your pics, really enjoying the quality photography you're bringing to the table!

I've never found any Amanita approaching that size, wow.
I'll be posting pics as long as this camera keeps working.

Would you mind picking your favorite photo of the first 3 Mycena? Really want opinions on that.

I'd pick 2 personally. In pic 3 the natural light makes the reflections on the caps to distracting, pic 1 just has worse composition.

Mycena 1 is my vote, just the beautiful specimen in all it's glory. I love finding them in the wild, they're always a great sight  Mycena 2 is a close second, either way they are awesome pics!

Damn I'm sorry, I actually meant to put that in my post but my goldfish brain forgot Haha

I'm down with 2 and heres why. I think the focal poin and angle do a good job capturing them very cleanly and crisp as well as the moss being bright enough to contrast without washing anything out or taking away from what you're trying to capture.
