how long can san pedro and bolivian torch cuttings stay unrooted?

my order for a san pedro, bolivian torch and peyote came yesterday, but some of my soil elements have not arrived yet.
the peyote is potted (in a small pot but its okay for now), but the other two are cuttings.
the delivery has been about 8 days, but i do not know how long ago the cuttings were taken. my orders should in theory all be here within a week, so they are potentially going to be unrooted for 3-4 weeks total.
is this okay? and is there anything i need to do to make sure they are safe while sitting in storage here? at the moment they are sitting, still boxed and protected, in my cupboard. i know this cupboard is too warm for them to go dormant so they will eventually try to root, but i dont know how long they take before they start bending. although, as far as i am aware, bending due to being on their side while rooting will work its way out over time anyway. is that correct? i am more worried about their health than asthetics though.
i am SO EXCITED to have my new babies, i just need a couple of soil elements to hurry up!
thank you for the help

They can be unrooted for years if the conditions aren't harsh. You can stand the growth tips up in pots and pack them with news paper or something, place in good shade and they shouldn't elongate. Sunlight is bad for plants without any roots, it will burn them in no time, so I stress shade.

thanks! thats a relief! i can relax
i will get them upright and keep them in the cupboard. they came well packed so i will just keep them in their packing materials.
its funny how the cacti come from NL to UK quicker than some of the materials i need that are shipping UK to UK
shout out to zamnesia by the way! delivery was fast even during this time of slow deliveries. i am a very happy customer
thank you very much for the help

They will continue to try to grow in storage and will try to bend upwards to light, hence why they should be stood up in pots and given adequate light. They may even attempt to root in the news paper.
There will be some thinner growth by the time they get potted up, but it can be manageable.
Original response was in the middle of the night, so a few tidbits got left out.

I have an un-rooted cutting that's been sitting in my backyard for about 3 years now and it is still alive....
...even after going through 3 summers with 4+ months of 100+ degree temps and being blasted by the sun.
Kinda forgot about it, this thread reminded me that it's still sitting out there lol.

thank you for filling the gaps. i have wrapped them in the original packaging plus some other packaging and propped them up in their pots. i have put them in th darkest room in the house and built cardboard housing for them to block any light that might make it through everything else. i just have some perlite to come now, everything else is here, so fingers crossed they should be potted in the next 2-3 days.
thank you for the help <3

Nice.
Make sure not to hydrate the soil in any way. Cacti must be potted dry.
I wouldn't store them too dark. That's unnatural habitat. I'd put the pots in indirect sunlight.

got them potted today. in dry soil for the record @pandemoon and i plan to not water them until they root, which i am expecting to be around a month? i was a little late to see your advice about light though. no big deal though, they did not end up stored for as long as i was worried they would be.
thanks for the help everybody <3
