Good work!
I like how you tried several different natural setups. I havn't gotten around to doing the whole airstone thing but these results look nice.
To me, those look like cubes . I have been cultivating several different varieties of caerulescens for the last year and a half and I have never seen any with such a pronounced veil or such fuzzy feet. Having said that, I havn't been able to get my hands on the mexican varieties('strains' for the stickler) such as var mazatecorum or var nigripes so I lack the experience there.
Identification is not my strong point. Could anyone chime in with some knowledge?
Regardless, I really like your setup and effort.

I kept the environment relatively dry to what they are probably used to. The pellicle would get much darker when wet. The "veil" separates as an appendiculate margin. The small umbo on the caps would get the "translucent" look around it when wet as well.
I'd love input on what everyone thinks, I have some other pictures of some funny expressions I saw from fruiting indoors.

Ok Folks.... Update I was suspecting this was a different variety of psilocybe after watching repeated flushes. Following up with an old friend, these seem to be mazatecs! I can't seem to find too much information on this

The color change you mentioned sounds like the hygrophanous effect.
What do you know about some characteristics which are supposed to be typical for just the var. mazatecorum, or in other words which used to be considered to set them apart as species? - or what does your friend say about this? Or isn't there actually much left of those characterizations and do you both mean that the caerulescens part of it was what was identified?
There is a hunting and ID forum for it - just saying perhaps there is also some info or shared insight there. (It would really be lovely if there was a key for the Psilocybe genus, whether by region or by clade/grouping a la Guzman. ) that said, the time to wait for response varies per subforum.
Just curious, how did you treat the manure mix - was it pasteurized?
Nice work

Nice experiment, these are Psilocybe cubensis not P. caerulescens.

Thanks for all the input. So a sequence was done on a sample: The chain ran wasn't long enough to confirm, but it is not P. Caerulescens. It cam back 100% Cubensis-100% Zapatecorum.
I believe it is the Cubensis var Mazatecorum. I can't find much on the species variety.
