Using non-glossy damp newspaper as a base platform, I figured out how to get some extra fruits. Instead of using damp perlite and tinfoil, I cover the bottom in 3 layers of damp news paper--soaked and thoroughly wrong-out.
The myc will colonize through the newspaper layers. After the brf cake has run its course, I fold and gentle press the newspaper between two hard cover books (larger than the folded news paper) to get some of the water out.
Next, I gentle pull the newspaper layers apart and poke some holes about an inch apart with a pen through the layers. Last, I double up on the colonized newspaper (6 layers) and use it as a base platform for the next round of brf cakes or on its own in a fruiting chamber.

Do you get fruits growing off the newspaper? I’m a little confused as to where the extra fruits come from. So is it kind of like mateahs HC but instead of wet coir or a towel, you use newspaper... just trying to see it in my brain.. got any pics?

The cakes sit directly on the damp newspaper. The Myc eventually starts colonizing (feeding off) the newspaper--producing on its own; coir, I believe doesn't provide very much, if any, nutrients.

I meant for the humidity.. coir holds the water. I’d love to see pics. Are the holes so the myc can colonize it better?

The newspaper is already damp from using it like perlite in the FC with cakes. The holes are for the fruits to grow threw, or, they would grow sideways and rot between the layers of newspaper.
