None Of The Pictures Of Nerodia Fasciata On Google Images Look Similar To Shroomhunts Snake In My Opinion. The Body & Tail Shapes Aren't The Same.

It actually is just a big old phat water snake. I never zoomed in when I first saw the pic to see the head. I just jumped to a conclusion when I saw that big phat body.

This being said, when threatened water snakes can flatten their bodies out like that to appear bigger, and I've seen this a million times.

I was drunk when I made my statement yesterday, just like I was drunk when I got bit by a copperhead a couple years back. This is why, when I'm drunk I make certain what I'm grabbing is harmless from here on out!

Being drunk was the only time I ever misidentified a snake, and it only happened that one time

What Can I Say, Water Snakes Can Do A Damn Good Job At Making You Think Their Venomous. It's Like They Copy The Water Moccasins

Yeah im pretty sure it was a cotton mouth despite the fact they are not supposed to be found here. I used to hunt for water snakes when I was younger and its pretty easy to tell a pit viper from a water snake... im no expert tho

That's what I thought it was,  but I am not familiar with the serpents of Pennsylvania. Unfortunately,  people here mistake them for water moccasins and kill them.
Personally,  I like them all and will relocate instead of execution.

Lots of harmless animals mimic poisonous or deadly ones, to survive, but sometimes this makes things worse when dumb humans kill them thinking that they are deadly, when fact they are just harmless mimics

Found a plethora of reptiles today, but these three were the stars of the show!

This guy flattened out, and I so wanted to picture it to show how much it looked like a moccasin

Oh well, he was quite docile little fella, but he didn't like me much and he shit all over my hands :awepuke:

This guy had no chance! The water was to low for him to escape

And this guy!

I also found a pretty peculiar weed growing too, not sure what kind it is though.

And it wouldn't be right to not show some mushrooms :smirk:

I searched all day for mushrooms, and fished, but thew fishing was the only thing worth while:smirk:

Even after the damn tropical storm remnants that we had blow through here with drenching rain all day, it has been so damn hot and humid here that it didn't matter. The woods were as dry and as crispy as the desert :mad2:

Two dried up Chanterelles.

I believe this to be in the Amanita vaginata group.

And some critters!

These are all different fish.

Until next time....

Man Allium, there is nothing like those small pond bass!! 2lbs and fight like pissed off pit bulls. I miss living in south florida and being able to pretty much fish anywhere, even just pulling over and fishing the creeks or ditches Haha

I know right! Dude, I put all the fish in that pond too! It took roughly four years to get the bass that size, this is why most of them all are the same size range.

That is actually a watershed to catch the drainage from the surrounding produce fields. It never had one fish in it before I started stocking it.

I started out putting several hundred small bluegill in it from other local creeks and ponds, and then I put a bunch of small bass, crappie, various sunfish, channel cats, mud cats, shiners, rock bass, and no telling what else, hehe!

I painstakingly walked all those fish out there in buckets through woods, and huge fields too, because there is no way to drive out to it.

The first couple of years you couldn't catch any fish at all, not one, then I started catching them the third year, and now every cast I caught a keeper fish today, it was Amazing!

Anyway, I miss Florida too, I lived in the panhandle for 12 years, and i miss it badly  I could walk right out my door, and go catch freshwater fish, brackish fish, and saltwater fish all within a mile from my home.

I also lived in Central Florida, and I could do the same, but Central Florida had freaking tilapia, and all kinds of tropical fish that I would catch for my aquariums, damn, I really miss that!

I didnt care much about non mushroom taxonomy until about a month ago since I started posting on inaturalist.
I have found some pretty neat stuff the last few weeks!

Thamnophis elegans terrestris

Ensatina eschscholtzii a terrestrial salamander.

Anaxyrus boreas

Sceliphron caementarium

And what might be some sort of beetle larvae I managed to photograph despite having my eyeballs pelted with 1 billion MPH Sand.

I post all the shit I find here if anyone wants to see more / help me ID stuff.
