ID Request- Mackenzie Basin NZ
    #26725498 - 06/07/20 02:37 AM (3 years, 7 months ago)

Habitat:
Stumbled across these while walking through a pine forest in the Mackenzie Basin just after the first snow. These were in a patch underneath a pine tree and partially concealed by pine needles.

Gills:
Gills are separated  and light brown in colour

Stem:
Stems on some are quite long, over 5cm. They are very thin and are hollow. Colour may be slightly darker than gills.

Cap:
Caps are up to ~2cm across, they were darker when I picked them earlier today and have a slight nipple on top with a dark brown or blue rim where the cap meets the gills.

Spore print color:
Have not yet conducted a spore print.

Bruising:
They don't seem to have much bruising.

I've never hunted for mushrooms before so let me know if you need any more information!

You have a Mycena species, possibly M. amicta or something close.

Although they show some blue tinges this is inherent and not a result of brusing. They are in other words not psychoactive.

Welcome to the Shroomery. :toast:

Your best bet is to look for Psilocybe subaeruginosa, which in NZ I believe is most commonly found in urban landscaping, i.e. wood chip beds.
