Condensation on poured agar plates for later use

Hey all,
I pour under 120'F and still always get condensation.. it sucks and is super weird.
I stored my agar plates in the fridge while they had condensation (whoops), because I wanted to use them a few days later.
After reading some more threads, I took them out and am letting them get back to room temperature... but should I stack them upside down so the condensations falls to the lids versus the agar, or just let it drop down to the agar? If I stack upside down, what's the best way to get rid of the water in the SAB, do you open them upside down in the SAB and wipe with an alcohol wipe like someone suggested (and let it dry), or?
Trying to see what the best, most sterile way to do it is because I have some swabs lined up that I want to use.
For reference, I have a sleeve of 20 right now that was all done in an SAB and I want to try and keep them as clean as possible.
Thanks!

I’m wondering the same thing. I just poured 10 plates at 120F and five were clear and five were not. This only my third agar pour but the last time I tried wiping the condensation with alcohol but I did not have the plates upside down. I did get contams.

They're sterile inside, you definietly dont want to be wiping or touching anything in there.
If the condensation is so bad that its leaving a huge puddle on the agar just turn it upside in the SAB. I've used plates with condensation before, they can work but are just a little annoying.

If you are getting condensation you are pouring too hot still.
Never wipe the inside of the plate, even with ISO - ISO isn't sterile. It will contaminate your plates.
I don't put blank plates in cold storage. It's better to keep them out, that way you will know if they are clean or not - the cold will just halt contams.

I pour my plates in the SAB and let them stay in there for 5 days or so to dry out before using them and/or wrapping them, no contams yet over many rounds of pours just make sure to cover the arm holes when you’re not using them.

Man that seems way unnecessary! Why don't you just pour at a lower temp so you don't get condensation to start with? Bodhisattva has a really good Tek for using a water bath in his links

I do pour at or under 120f but I let them sit unwrapped in the SAB for an average of 4-5 days, most petri dishes are vented so they will slowly lose a little moisture and during this time I can verify there is no contamination from my pouring method. I usually plan things so I won’t need the SAB for a few days and have a purpose for most of the plates already lined up so I just jump in and use them. It might not work for everyone but it works great for me and I don’t have overly wet plates. Just make sure to cover the arm holes of your SAB when you aren’t using it.
