Habitat: Otways, Victoria, Australia - side of unmaintained track between eucalyptus trees and around grass
Gills: Smaller ones creamy, bigger ones dark brown
Stem: Various - as per photos - between 10 - 25 cms. Appears to be some white but dirty with some bluing but on the “older” looking ones that look waterlogged the stems are very dirty, can really see any bluing but some yellow staining
Cap: caramel coloured but the “older” looking ones look a bit waterlogged and browny
Spore print color: Currently taking. If not dark purple, will bin.
Bruising: Blueish particularly on the rim of the caps but the “older” looking ones that look a bit waterlogged don’t seem to bruise at all really.
Other information: A lot of the mushrooms were very wet and looked a bit past their prime.

Thank you. Is the dirty browny/yellow staining typical of older and waterlogged subs? Also, any reason why the older and waterlogged subs can’t be dried and consumed? Thank you again for your help.

Im not sure about yellowing, But browning of the stem does occur around areas with dense vegetation/extra moisture.
You should be able to dry them

Nice! I absolutely love the otways. Go there for everything else but never been for foraging. Would be amazing but I live too far. They all look good to me although wait for a trusted identifier. I'm also hoping the whole waterlogged thing means fuck all in terms of psilocybe content!

Cheers. Maybe it is a bit more of a light brown rather than yellow. I’ll make sure the spore prints look right anyway.
jagsthebags - Otways are amazing - doesn’t even feel like Victoria. Got covered in leeches this morning though. Hope you’re right on waterlogged psilocybin potency. I’m sure there would be a post on that. Would be very interesting. Let me know if you find a link.

I would say light brown is the case. I see three prints in the second photo and they are the correct dark purple colouring for this species.

Great. The 3 prints were from yesterday’s find - I’m camping and run out of paper so had to re-use.
