im done with first flush harvest... i soaked a few tubs, and im misting the rest.(testing what i like) should i remove the old pins from first flush? the caps look much darker, and they appear to be aborts... im just not sure if i should remove them or leave them? theirs a lot of them and i dont want to take away from possible new growth... the last photo has new pins growing... the first three are the old pins...

If they do not grow probably they should be removed so they do not rot and hurt the next flush. If they grow now I would let them go.

They almost all look like they've aborted to me. All the really dark ones. I clip them off and save them with stem butts for tea.
Things do look a little extra fluffy in there, what are you doing for air?

im opening the lids every day for a bit, to get some air... but they stay resting on top of the tub. im noticing the new pins over the old now. i may clip the old like you said. i save mine for micro dosing. so ill remove any pin that has an old dark cap and be sure to leave lids off for a bit.. dose it bother new pis to get misted ? or should i just let the subs float in water for a couple hrs to make sure they hydrate ?

If the myc has already begun to reclaim the aborts and surround them with new growth just leave it be. If you cut them off now you are possibly cutting down your next flush before it begins. You need to identify the new flushing mushrooms from the old, black, spiked caps and pick them without damaging your new fruits now - which if its starting a new flush I don't recommend.

well i did some grooming to the tubs. i made sure to leave the new pins alone... i could deff tell today the aborts from new pins. im leaving the lids off for a bit, and i misted everything... going to allow some good air flow for a bit... im realizing i need more air. also i think im going to use 4.25-4.50 quarts of water next time when im getting field capacity... i used 4qt. im thinking they needed a tad bit more... this way i dont need to dunk the subs... just a lil misting ... time will tell!

That's basically my process. I surpass field capacity by a quart or so and don't have to worry about misting at all until my first flush is done with.

You seem to have gotten there on your own but you asked earlier about misting pins directly, and yeah it’s totally fine. I like to take the lids off and let them breathe for the evening when I get home from work so I just let them sit in the open for 5-6 hours and mist directly every once in a while

I don't bother with aborts anymore. I just leave them there and they get reclaimed into substrate. I never had them rot or anything.
