Newbie question first time grow

So I will be starting within the next couple weeks hopefully. Lots of great info on here so I decided to make my own cakes and use a method I found on here versus buying a grow kit and not learning much.
forgive me if this was already asked. #1 After the first harvest where do you put your cakes to dry out for a couple days?
Out in the open? Does it matter where.
#2 If I were to try and set up a system so I can have 2 relatively back to back fresh harvests then when is a good time to start incubation period for th second "new" cakes (2nd batch not flush)
Should I begin 2nd batch After my first batch goes through 2nd flush? Or sooner? Or later?
I will probably be using the same shotgun tub or whatever it's called for both batches ( Still learning terminology)
Last question
#3 if I sterilize and incubate 5 cakes one day and 5 the day after then is that fine to put in the same tub for fruiting when the time comes? If so would I just put half in the tub when they're ready and the other half the following day?
I have instructions I will follow for everything I just want to be sure that I have a good idea of what to do.
I have a million more things I'd like to know but one thing at a time.
Thanks everyone 😊

Thanks for answering, much appreciated.
#1 I meant after you harvest the first flush. I read that you should let the cake dry before dunking it again k. Water for 20hrs. So where should it dry. I'm assuming that fruitbodies means the same thing?
And for #2 my biggest concern was making sure the first batch and all it's flushes are finished prior to the second batch being put into the tub for fruiting. If each flush can take up to 14 days then I was thinking maybe a 2 weeks to a month after I incubate the first batch I could start on the second one without running into issues.
Hope I explained that well. Thanks again

#1 oh i gotcha. Yea second flush prob wont happen for 5-7 days u can just let sit in fc and dunk prior to 7th day or whatever. [fruitbodies means mushrooms]
#2 you could do that if you wanted/needed to

Just to be certain here...you don’t want your cakes actually drying out ever. If you want to wait some amount of time after the first flush to dunk then make sure they’re in the fruiting chamber still. Though I don’t think you really need to wait any time. Flushes from multispore grows don’t come in perfect waves so you will have some mature mushrooms and some just showing up.
When the cake has put out some fruit and starts to feel light when you pick it up then you dunk it.
Sgfc will work best with more cakes in it. You want them crowded around each other and then you can move them apart a bit as they start to need room. There is a lot of outdated info around so make sure you find a pf tek that’s pretty new to read.
And these things don’t work in real life as on paper so you could start a second group of jars 2 weeks apart and have some finish colonizing before all your first group are done. Not likely that dramatic but it doesn’t really work like a clock until you have cultures and conditions you know very well.

Cakes need to be watered and shouldn’t dry out. Misting or dunking in between flushes.
You should totally invest in a PC, agar supplies, and grain and get this thing rolling if you enjoy the hobby. Much more rewarding! Good luck bud!
As long as the cakes aren’t contaminated they can be near Each other it doesn’t matter when they were sterilized. You shouldnt put cakes with uncolonized portions in the sgfc with fully colonized cakes I don’t think.
Just don’t over think and grab a pressure cooker and the skies the limit with this hobby!

What size PC would you suggest to start with, I see a lot of people mention Presto 23 but they seem to have a handle on things and doing much larger volume.
Would it be worth it to invest in one of those now or start with a smaller one, and then worry about upgrading at a future time?

I use a 23 qt presto, I'm not really doing much volume. It's a fairly affordable pressure cooker and it's not really THAT big. I feel like fitting a quart jar in anything smaller would be challenging.

Yeah, 23q is a really good size. Easily fits anything a small hobbyist needs.
