Forgot to use Micropore tape using BRF Tek, should I start over?
    #26722270 - 06/05/20 04:11 PM (3 years, 7 months ago)

This is my first time posting, sorry if it's not the right place for it.

I've whipped up some brf verm cakes in jars using BRF Tek, and have them steaming now, and I just realized I forgot to put micro-pore tape on the lids before putting them in the steamer. Should I pluck them out and put the tape on, start over with new cakes, or hope for the best and keep going?
What should I do

You never needed the tape. I would skip it personally it just leaves sticky residue on things

:werd: As long as you put the dry layer of vermiculite they are made the intended way and will be as healthy as the syringe the use to inoculate.

I didn't use any type of filter tape at all with my jars.  I filled the top 1/2" of the 1/2 pint jars with just pure vermiculite and that alone has worked great to keep any contamination from entering the substrate and ruining the mycelium growth. http://
