Help choosing a suitable HEPA filter for a DIY flow hood
    #26721910 - 06/05/20 01:04 PM (3 years, 7 months ago)

I did a bit of research and came up with a supplier that actually sold H14 HEPA filters online. The only issue i have is that the site brand itself as an AC filter company and i need laminar flow. Basically i was concerned weather the filter would be able to achieve laminar flow or not.

Filter dimensions are Actual Size: 457 x 610 x 150-mm, which would mean ~ 1.5 feet X 2 X  6 inches

The rated airflow on this filter is 1200m3/h with an initial pressure drop of 250Pa, which would translate into ~700 cfm and approx 1WG. Would this filter achieve laminar flow with a properly chosen blower?

Thanks in advance

Air velocity for laminar flow is 100ft/min

Now multiply 100ft/min with the area of your filter(1.5 x 2= 3square feet)

100 x 3 = 300

So you need a fan that can push 300CFM at 250Pa or at 1WG.

I would recommend to get a fan with speed control that can push 300CFM at higher static pressure, something like 300+PA at 300CFM.

Look at fan diagrams to find suitable fan.
