Didecyldimethylammonium chloride for sterilising

After a couple of failed attempts of making LC from my own spore prints and wasting 4 quarts of grain twice, I am stepping up my game with sterilising.
Does anyone have experience using Didecyldimethylammonium chloride as a sterilising agent? I read it's "a broad-spectrum microbiocide, a mild quaternary ammonium chloride compound with wide spectrum fungicidal and bactericidal properties." It's used as a hard-surface spray and also to treat the bed linens.
I bought a bottle of Green Mould Remover from my local gardening store and see this is the active ingredient. I'd like an alternative to isopropyl alcohol for spraying down my work areas and Still Air Box because iso-2 is expensive, flammable, potentially explosive in a SAB and the fumes give me a headache.
This bottle of mould remover cost €3 and makes 10 litres (2.5 gallons) of solution.
Have any more experienced cultivators tried a biocide like this?

Just from the chemical name, sounds like it might be toxic. I wouldn't want to accidentally end up eating that. Even getting exposed to a lot of it sounds like maybe something to avoid. But to know for sure, you'd want to look up its MSDS and any other information you can find about its health effects from exposure, because you never know. It's impossible to guess just from the name what the health effects might be. Still, I'd be cautious about it.

i would suggest you can grow with out it. anytime you bring anything into a lab theres chance of a slow build up of residue from handling. enough resdiue build up over time, and it could inhibit the good spores also.
keep in mind there are people here who grow in "labs" wich are unsuitable to house cattle in most western countries, yet , they enjoy success without extreme biocides.
i say rethink your lab , handling and grow. im not sure id consume stuff from a lab wich used chems of that nature. there are better ways.

As far as I'm reading, there doesn't seem to be a lot of research into the inhalation toxicity if this stuff, and research that has been done looks a little concerning.
"...the importance of inhalation toxicity for low vapor pressure and nonvolatile biocides, such as didecyldimethylammonium chloride (DDAC) has been underestimated until reports of the deaths of pregnant women and infants due to biocides added to humidifiers were reported." https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4206748/
It doesn't sound like you'd be using it in a humidifier, but I'd be hesitant to use it for anything on a regular basis. Definitely wouldn't wanna spray it in my house if I didn't really need to.
I don't worry much about sanitizing my workspace surfaces or spraying air disinfectants. I just clean surfaces as I normally would any other surfaces in my home, and focus on my sterile technique.
I think the main problem with your spore to LC attempt was probably the fact that it was a spore to LC attempt

This thread was moved from Advanced Mycology.
Reason: Not advanced. You need to learn technique. The sanitizer or lack thereof you use hardly matters
