Mushroom Identification
    #26720508 - 06/04/20 11:20 PM (3 years, 7 months ago)

Hello Guys

I have recently been finding mushrooms growing in elephant poo in northern Laos. Some locals have told me they are psychedelic and others that they are harmful. Attached are some pictures

They are neither psychedelic nor harmful.

There are two psychedelic species growing from herbivore manure in your region, Panaeolus cyanescens and Psilocybe cubensis.
The former are similar to those you just found, but usually a bit smaller, and will bruise blue when handled or damaged.
The latter looks quite different from your find, they are usually more robust, has a ring on the stem, and also bruises blue.

Study the descriptions and pictures in the links provided, and bring your camera along when you hunt, so that you can take
pictures of the mushrooms also before you pick them.

Welcome to the Shroomery, and good luck hunting.
