Do you guys take the top all the way off the agar and set it down, and then make your cuts and drop it in the grain jar piece by piece? In a SAB of course. If this is seriously that easy, this whole process of making the agar->cultivating the agar->dropping agar in the jar, then thats awesome. It grows so fast in the jars.

I think most people pick up the agar dish lid in one hand and cut with the other then replace the lid then open the jar lid and drop in the agar chunk in. I don’t ever set the lid down, only back on the dish.

I spoon out my agar after I heat the whole spoon.

Like SFS96 said.
I loosen the lid on my receiving jar first. Flame sterilize the scalpel, open my plate + cut wedge, pick up wedge with scalpel and set lid back on plate. I try to do this without setting the lid down but if I need to I will. Then, holding my wedge I will open the lid of my jar, drop wedge + tighten lid.
Download RR's Letsgrowmushroom videos if you want good visuals of G2G, A2G etc He works in front of a flow hood but you still do things the same way, the only difference is in a still air box you never want something unsterile moving over top open media and with a FH you don't want anything moving between the filter and open media.

I keep a stack of like six plates with an iso soaked paper towel over them, then keep the stack on a raised box off the the side like three inches higher than the rest of the SAB. . I wipe down the receiving jars and loosen the band and lids.
Then I open the dish and cut it into however many pieces I need and set it on top of the stack of plates.
I usually leave the lid off the whole time while dropping wedges to 2 or three jars. Not the safest thing but between keeping it pretty high up and off to the side it’s been working well. Just don’t bump the SAB or make jerky movements.

Yeah I just leave the lid off. I cut my wedges then smoothly tilt my plate/dish/jar while I task with my other hand, tilting it back upright to resume plucking and dropping. Arthritis makes it hard for me to hold the lid agape and open plate in one hand clamshell style like I like to so started just taking it off as stated above and don't see any difference. I like the little square ziplocks for pre-pours for this reason because having a straight edge on the dish and lid makes it easy to hold both in one hand and just hinge it open. Think I'm a lid-off guy now though TBH.
