2nd gen MS G2G

Hey guys,
I know most discourage MS to grain... but Ive been doing it for a while with no issues. Once the jars are fully colonized I use them to do g2g to newly sterilized jars of grain as it saves a ton of time of colonization. Would there be any issues with using one of the master jars to do more jars, and then make 2nd gen from those colonized jars? I know people make 2nd gen spawn, but wasnt sure if Id have a high chance of failure bc its MS vs like agar or something for the original master jars?

Ms is just a non clone culture. I think what you're meaning is people discourage spore syringe to grain without cleaning up on agar. Any grow not using an isolate or clone is an ms grow. Regardless of going to agar or not.
There is apparently a limit to how many times you can g2g a culture perpetually. Senescence is the word. But that is beyond my knowledge.
I will say I've stayed to one round of g2g and, from a master i will do 10-20 new jars. And if I've started with 19 masters that quickly becomes more than enough. There simply no need to keep g2g and wearing the culture out.

No issue at all using a master jar to do more jars.
Also there is nothing wrong with MS to grain, I did it for 5+ years, not everybody wants to bother with agar, and not everyone is looking for peak performance and maximum yields. Nothing wrong with that.
MS is inherently a risk, but I never had contam rates above 10% with MS, that's acceptable to me.

Well, clones and monocultures are two different things. Even clones can have multiple genetic strains present.

Yeah ive been getting great yields. And yes, ive been using master jars to do more jars. But can I then use those 2nd jars as master jars to make more jars was more what I meant.

Or would that make it 3rd gen spawn?

Up to 4-5 gens is fine, after that you start seeing noticeable declines.

This is correct just for future people coming across it.
Ms is multi spore. Ms syringe to grain is not recommended anymore although when I started out I did over 20 grows that way and never lost a jar before getting into agar. Totally depends how clean your syringe is.
