A couple questions - spore print and soaking cakes

Hello shroomery. I am a first time grower. I have just raised my frist crop of shroomies have just popped their veils and I need to think about making a spore print. I looked at seveal teks on the shroomery, but I was wondering if there was another way to dry the print than using a dissicant chamber. Can heat be applied to the spores? Or will that kill them?
Also, I know many of you soak your cakes between flushes. Is it safe to pick only the mature mushrooms and leave the new pins on the cake while I soak it in water? or would that kill the pins?
Thanks shroomery!

I agree with lamblancer. On the foil there are two different sides. One side is brighter (more reflective) then the other side. Although not much of a difference to some, I found that doing a spore print on the duller side, least reflective side, keeps the print intact longer. Then cover with the reflective side since they tend to stick less to it. Just my personal experience and experience with getting mailed prints from buddies that all fell off and clustered together in the edges of the foil wrap.
