Water pooling on top of sub

Hi all. Need a little guidance. Do i need to do something about this water pooling up on top of my sub? Its an unmodded tub. I have had it closed and in the dark for about 15 days. About 80 degrees. Hopefully you can see in the pics the pooled up condensation.
Also seems like it is taking forever to fully colonize. I think thats where i went wrong last time and started fruiting when it was in about this stage. Got lame fruits and contamination. I used a 3lb millet to 1 950g block of coir. Im guessing thats why it taking so long?
Thanks for any help.

You should initiate fruiting by incorporating FAE

Pic #3 looks like its trying to pin. Tub does not look great. I would carefully lay down a paper towel to absorb excess moisture or dump it out if you can do that without making a mess.
Most people around here go directly to fruiting. No need to keep your tub in the dark or suffocate it.
Your problem is likely preparing your sub too wet.

Also try to mix your spawn more thoroughly. You have big patches of popcorn(?) spawn and a lot of unmixed sub. That can affect your colonization times as well.

I know fae to begin fruiting. Not trying to fruit until fully colonized. Ill try paper towel.
Its not trying to pin. Its just shit pics and in the dark. My bad for that. I mixed it up well as i could. Thought i did a good job, but like i said theres a lot more coir than grain. Id guess like 1:4 spawn to sub. Not for sure, just know 3lb bag of grain to 650g coir brick.
And this time i made the sub a lot less wet than last. I mean barely barely barely got a couple drops squeezing with full force. I see why you would think that with all the condensation though.
Appreciate it <3

Yup. You right as rain. Didnt think it would pin with no air or light. Good eye.

First off there is no reason to keep it in the dark, we stopped doing that years ago . Myc benefits from light at all stages.
Most of us have stopped doing spawn runs as well, there is no need to wait until full colonization to introduce FAE. It seems to be beneficial and shortens the time from spawning to fruiting.
Are you using an unmodified mono or something else?

Unmodified in a grow tent. I had light and fae at all stages last grow. Thought this would cut down on contamination. Thanks for learning me.
Also another problem is i have no light in the tent so ill have to take it out for sun, but pet hair and dander is ubiquitous outside of the tent. Got an air purifier going though.

Idk looks fine to me.
It’s definitely colonized and ready to go.
Once it gets some air I bet it pins instantly.

Once again...contamination 1 day out of grow tent. So sad....
Anyone know what this? Penicilium?

Salted it and cut it out. Hopefully it wont return. Probably will though. Tres depressing.
Can i put lime or something in the sub when mixing it along with the vermiculite and gypsum to raise the ph? I had the same thing last batch.

It almost certainly isn't gone. And when i zoom in, I see green- looks like it'd already begun sporulating. I'd get that thing outta the grow area. And it isn't caused by ph. It's caused by bad spawn. It's time to revisit your spawn prep. Are you inoculating bags of Millet with a spore solution? Did you hydrate and sterilize the grain bags yourself?

A simple way to calculate water to coir ratio.
Weigh the coir using grams. Then multiply coir weight by 4.75 for the weight in water by grams. I always had pooling when I multiplied by 5 and found that 4.5 was too dry. So 4.75 was my sweet spot. You may end up with a different sweet spot than I..
Example:
650g. coir x 4.75 = 3088g. of water.
How I add vermiculite to the coir:
2 quart of vermiculite 340 grams. I hydrate the vermiculite with 340 grams of water. for a total wt. of 680 grams of hydrated verm.
I also grow in bags in tubs. If I get trich I just pull the one bag and don't loose a whole tub..

Easy to pull out a bag for harvest

Had to cut about 30% off the cake and planted it outside. Worst case scenario I got at least 2.
