Koontz wrote a short story for Amazon so reading that.  Finished his 5 book Jane Hawk series and normally I buy on books on my Nook but all of those I just checked out from my local library.  When done with that will read Kings new book.

Shut down now with a sign that reads, keep the books till further notice, no late fees.  The "New Normal".  Though we have to go down to notches to officially reach that point here but I like that saying as it is a new normal in society already.  Just how people in society react to it is interesting.

I love Le Guin. What did you think?

Last one of hers I read was 'The Dispossessed', which I loved.

Right now I'm reading 'Right Concentration' by Leigh Brassington. Really good guide to meditative states that count as 'altered states of consciousness'. I highly recommend it.

I enjoyed it. I read some back story about when she wrote it and what was going in the world. It was almost as if she was laughing in the face of a lot of people with the commentary and story she told. She did a great job of taking a far-fetched story and making it super relatable. Her writing and story telling in this one reminded me of Aldous Huxley's writing in many ways.

I really love her work, her Earth Sea books are at the top of my favorite list for sure. I actually have not read The Dispossessed yet, so I guess I should do that soon as I have read many others of hers.

I listened to Dancing at the Edge of the World: Thoughts on Words, Women, Places on tape while driving cross country a couple weeks ago and it was all lectures and speeches from her from the 70's and 80's. She was such an insightful, thoughtful, and caring human. My partner actually met her son while we lived in Portland, and just told me about it recently when she connected the dots of who it was.

I really get that sense from her writing too.

And crazy about meeting her son! I lived in Portland too, 2002-2004, Beaverton, West Linn and then up in Rainier for a bit, on the Columbia. I'll never forget how it felt to wake up and see the snow-capped peaks.

Not liking the Gell-Mann book so much. I turn instead to The Great Santini by Pat Conroy. It's been a while since I read Conroy and he's always absolutely great.
