NY state, found these in my lawn.
I'm taking a print to see if it's black or brown.
Wanna say Pan Foenisecii?

I'd Say Panaeolus Foenisecii, Check The Print Anyway, But I Think It'll Be Darkish Brown.

Yours. If you’re in doubt of who someone is talking to, look at the top stat panel of the post. If you want to know the exact post, click the name.
Good luck hunting.

Probably but there’s no gill shot, and you’re also hijacking another thread. Might want to start your own.

To Ram the shroomer, Yes, That Is Panaeolus Papilionaceus. See The Mottled Appearance Around The Cap Margin? Also Notice The Stem Is Reddish/Brown With A Light Fuzz On It That Can Be Wiped Off.
I'll PM You Some Pics Of Copes & The Difference.

I was just thinking that this pap looked more like a cinct. More just admiring the different appearances of the paps I have seen. Almost grey to black with different patterns, but this color scheme looked closer to Panaeolus Cinctulus to me. Pretty much knew it was a pap though. Just thinking the differences in Paps I have seen look like personalities or personality traits with the color of the caps. So know I guess the dark brown bruises on the stem are a dead giveaway for paps. Maybe.
I may have seen some cincts in the wild, but have not properly identified any. I can tell the differences between a pap and a Cope though. Usually those don’t take any further inspection.

If anyone is interested a took a peek and here is the (wet) print. It looks chocolate brown to me, it will lighten as it dries I think
I have never found any Pan Cinct strangely enough, one of these days. If I wanted to try eating them I would just grow them myself, I just want the experience of finding them

Chances are you’ve walked right by them. You’re on the right track, though.

What do you mean?
If you’re solely looking for clusters you may miss some of the solitary ones growing in with the foes.
