So many things going on right now.
I just made the biggest batch of casing I’ve ever done by far.
I just cased shoeboxes of ape, atl7, king oyster, and pan jam, along with a PE underbed.
So many tubs getting to the fun part. Ufo, Tasmanian, ape, atl7, whyte gold, pans, and my first Melmak clone all just hit full colonization or will within a day.

Rub the loop on the print then streak the plate.
A lot of times I torch the loop and cool it in agar and then rub the print, it seems to get way more spores but idk if it’s ruining the prints.

I think you can do both. Some people drop a bit of liquid onto the plate and then streak. Some people drip it onto the loop and streak. Some sterilize a vessel like a shot glass, squirt out a bit of liquid, and dip.

Call me lazy but I put a drop on the plate then tilt the plate so the drop spreads in a "zigzag" pattern.

Hi all! Anyone spots anything my noob eye doesn't? I was thinking it's a little dry.
Sorry for the image quality, fucking phone won't focus on mycelium, any tips on that would also be appreciated. Dubtubed the left one after taking the photo, loose lid on the right one for now.
Before anyone asks, that grey looking area in the middle of the first image looks like this up close.

I really like Smart's tek for coir. It works great for oats, too, and couldn't be easier. Smarts Phucket Bucket - Coir prep

I would only say suuuuuper dry was if you were doing bags. If you're doing quarts, they can be a little wet.

Just make sure they dry evenly if u have a big pile pour them on a tarp then every 20 mins pull the corners of the tarp so they all go to the middle mix them up then spread them out again they are easy they are all I've ever used but yea just dont over cook and at the end give it the paper towel test so 3 main things dont over cook dry evenly and give the paper towel test and u wont fuck it up

If you're open for suggestions, try millet. I spent 9 months trying to dial in oats, never had consistent success. Switched to millet, jars and bags colonize like fire. I don't even do any grain prep anymore. I use Caps' prepless method for jars and bags. He says it works for any grain, not just millet. I just fucking love millet.

Where have you found the best place to get millet for the price? I've wanted to give it a shot lately.

I definitely want to get into millet. I just have some oats already. But I've found a place where I can order some and I'm eager to try it out

Never realized how much of a pain it was to look for shit for a FH lol. What would you all consider an average price for a 24x24 filter. Before shipping or anything. Just the base price
