anyone quitting smoking? * 1
    #26713040 - 06/02/20 05:21 AM (3 years, 7 months ago)

I stopped smoking and picked up vaping years ago, I vaped 6mg fluid for years never even thinking about going back to gross smokes, then I was starting to get tired of vaping, so I got some chatix from my doctor and tapered my nicotine in half every few days till I was at 0mg, the weird thing was I was still addicted to a 0mg vape, then after a couple months of being nicotine free I had a cigar, which led to more and for the whole month of Janurary I smoked about 5 captian blacks a day, before I switched back to a 6mg vape, after a while I went and got more chantix from my doctor and started again, this time however when I tapered down to 0mg I started putting tobacco in my weed, that turned into just rolling up tobacco in the mornings with my cofee, yesterday I had to quit for a third time, everytime I try and go nicotine free it seems I start smoking, today I havnt smoked, this is my last attempt at going nicotine free, I struggled for an hour with my morning coffee, but it passed hopefully thats the only time I nic, as I have been only having cravings in the morning, but im serious this is my last attempt to quit, if I ened up smoking again Im switching to a vape for life, not even going to bother trying to quit again, and I only have 6 days of chantix left, so I started cutting them in half so it last 12 days, I dont know if its placebo, but the really seem to dampen the withdrawal

Best of luck dude. Nicotine is a filthy bitch. I'd love to quit too but that change in routine is such a huge hurdle to get passed. You taking on extra hobbys to preoccupy your mind and body?

Exercise is pretty much the best thing to focus on when quitting any addiction. The ritual and the endorphin rush offer a nice replacement, and it gives you a reason to stay healthy that has many positive and noticeable results if you stick with it

I haven't quit but I've cut down dramatically. I actually started tracking my cigarette intake by logging a count each day (I know that's super weird but it helps me improve each month).

For instance, in January I smoked a total of 5 and a half packs for the month. This past month (May) I was down to 2 and a half packs for the month.

See my big hurdle when it comes to smokes is alcohol. When I drink, I smoke. On a typical sober day I can get by with just a single cigarette all day (the one I have with my morning coffee). And there have been a decent number of days this year where I didn't have one all day.

So I've really had to work extra hard in minimizing my drinking to make this work. Because if I drink, I will smoke.

I've had a total of 17 and a half packs through the first five months of this year (again I know it's beyond weird that I know the exact count ), which averages out to a little over 2 cigarettes a day. On a drinking day I'll smoke anywhere from 6 to 10 on average.

Hopefully one day I can bring it to zero!

But gopher, yes, the struggle is mighty and real when it comes to that morning coffee cigarette.

You just gotta fight that urge. They suck, I know lol I was super addicted to cigs back in the day then went to vaping for a few years now I'm finally over it. Weed is what helped me the most  (I traded my vaping shit for a little over half oz. of bud and smoked that anytime I had an urge)
