Hi all.
Apologies in advance for the long post. Today I went to three different locations and collected a bunch of things. While i'm getting better at identifying subs, i'm still a bit confused when they don't look exactly like the ones im already familiar with.
The numbers correspond to the different locations and sorting
Could you please help me identify these
Habitat:
1) Found in mulch in Chatswood.

2) Found growing where a tree stump used to be. Dead wood chips

3) Found in pine leaves mulch in Roseville

4) Found in mulch in Chatswood.

Gills: 1) See photo labelled 1. The smaller mushrooms have a lighter gill and seem to attach to them stem. The bigger mushrooms have dirtied gills that go up higher into the head.

2) See photo labelled 2. Come down and attach to the stem.

3) See photo 3. Yellow gills and dont clearly atach to stem

4) See photo 4. Attach to stem

Stem: 1) White, fibrous, no bruising, hollow core 2-4mm diameter 2) Hard to say if bruising or just age. 2-4mm 3) Yellow/brown hollow 2mmm 4) Bruised or white
Cap: 1) Varies, deep caramel with a darker brown ring on the outside. Slight dimple 2)Tan leather colour, edges curl down, 4-7cm diameter, brown veining around edges (see photo) 3) Cone Shaped. Lighter yellow in the center/dimple fading to a tan brown around the outside. 4) Deep brown/tan with bruising, quite round.
Spore print color - only been printed for a few hours. Will update if necessary
1) Slight brown 2) Hasn't dropped spores.... 3) Yellow 4) Not conducted. Pretty sure this is subs.
Bruising: 1)No 2) Stems= maybe tops = not really 3)No 4) Yes, heavily
My guesses are: 1) No idea 2) Pholiota communis 3) Pholiota Communis 4) Subs
Hope this post isn't too long - i'd like to be able to get to the point where i can positively ID other/irrelevant mushrooms. So the more insight you can provide the better
Thank you in advance

Welcome to the Shroomery
The fourth lot of mushrooms are subs.
Note how firm the caps and stems are when bent. They should be very firm. How I test a sub-looking mushroom to see if it's a sub is just to bend the stem. If the mushroom looks like a sub and has very firm caps and stems when bent, then it's likely a sub.
Enjoy

1: leratiomyces ceres 2: possibly subs. Hard to tell. Photo of the gills would be nice. As a rule, mushrooms should be kept in one piece for id. 3: agrocybe sp. 4: psilocybe subaeruginosa

Appears you are correct on #4, they are Psilocybe subaeruginosa.
For the others, it would help a lot if you could post close up shots of intact specimens.
#1 appears to have white gills, but a proper gill shot would definitely help.
Now I don't know Pholiota communis first hand, but it is apparently supposed to have a sticky cap when young. Yours appear to be quite dry. Also what little is visible of the spore deposit looks a bit light for Pholiota. #3 might be a Galerina sp.
Welcome to the Shroomery.

It's only the young leratiomyces that appears to have white gills. The others has a margin darkened by spores and the top left one has a spore print on the cap.

Thanks team
I will do better with photos and documentation in the future.
Here is a photo of the gills on mushroom #2. I wish i'd taken a photo of the spot before i picked them. I was just too excited.

Pholiota communis is apparently quite a common mushroom in eucalypts pine mulch in my part of Aussie in autumn and winter. It also has bright yellow gills which is consistent with the Wiki. It doesn't have the thicker brown stems however....
What do you reckon?
Thank you for ID 1,3 and of course 4.
