Question on the Size and Shape of My Cakes
    #2668364 - 05/12/04 11:50 AM (19 years, 10 months ago)

Alright, my friend is incubating 18 jars right now. 6 of them are the usual 1/2-pint jars that are commonly used. However, the other 12 are 3/4 pint, and they are a bit taller and thinner than the other jars. My question has to do with what i should do with the bigger cakes when they are fully colonized. Since they are taller and thinner, I was wondering if they would still be able to support the weight of mushroom growth in fruiting. If they can without any problems then I will probably keep them as cakes. So, are there any problems with the shape of these jars/cakes? This is my first grow and so i will probably want to avoid casings, but I have no problem with casing the cakes if it has to come to that.

Thanks for your help in advance.

why does everyone on this site always say that it is their friend growing not them. you guys should check out overgrow.com. there are thousands of people posting and noone says its their "friends" grow. you can't get in trouble for saying that you grow. there has to be some proof

I'm not a law expert, but I was reading the legal info on overgrow yesterday and it actually said that you can't be charged for discussing illegal things, as long as you don't admit to it.
So I assume that by admitting to it they would be able to get you for something

correct me if I'm wrong

To the first guy: there wouldn't be any problem leaving them as cakes, but casings would make for larger yields, generally.

I have the same issue - I incubated in tall 1/2 pint jars and ended with tall narrow cakes. They seem to support themselves fine now,but I imagine more support will be needed once they start to fruit larger...

The reaso you don't admit to doing anything personally is more to protect you after you're busted... nobodys going to come after you after rea ding your posts here, but if you should happen to get busted tomorrow and you wrote your confession on your computer, they will find it and use it against you, just as if you had wrote it in your diary...
