Was walking with my son and looked down under some rose bushes and I was like WTF they look like subs. Caught me off guard. Normally I’ll take a photo in sitchu but was a bit public and there were some council dudes hanging around. So threw them into a bag and got out of there to not look too sketchy. Anyway, upon closer inspection they look really similar but were a lot dryer than I’ve picked in the past. I would have caught them bang on if I walked past 3-4 days ago. If anyone can confirm, otherwise I’ll dump them and wait til another big dump of rain. Almost time for frosts so season might be done soon.
Habitat: Found in wood chips under someone’s rose garden.
Gills: Threw away all the light coloured ones, light brown
Stem: Silvery brown, mushrooms were quite dry when I found them, the less dry ones were more white and they had a glisten that other subs I’ve found
Cap: Flatter than I was expected hence my doubt. Wasn’t quite sure if they smooth out when they dry out a bit. But I was expecting a bit of a dark patch from the top tip, but I can’t see any.
Spore print color: Taking spore print now will post when it’s done
Bruising: They were a bit dry so not as much bruising as I was expecting. See photos of stems.
Other information: They smell correct, that nice nutty mushroom sweetness. They look 90% right, it’s just the slightly more smooth cap that has thrown me.
Here is a known Sub I found earlier that day from an area I know is confirmed.
Here are the Subs in question from the rose garden. Again picked a bit dryer, if they were fresher I would have been able to confirm but never found subs in the wild this dried.

Wait for a TI to confirm, but the rest of the photos don’t appear to be subs. No clear blue bruising evident.

Thankyou,
I do see the Ceres a lot around the national parks around me. Never seen them dried as they are very easy to distinguish when fresh.
I’m going to visit that spot to see if they flush again to study. Good to know they look a-likes as much as the real deal.
