Weird formations on mush caps
    #26708569 - 05/31/20 06:53 AM (3 years, 7 months ago)

Hi!

I have a couple of shoeboxes growing next to each others. Different ages, different strains, but all cubes.

I noticed a couple of days ago that one shroom had developed some kind of "bubble" over it's cap. I thought it was malformation, but I've noticed that several shrooms have the same thing.

I'd thought it's genetics, but they're different strains, came from different people...

Is it a contam? Any opinions?

Funny because I just noticed that growth on a B+ pic in the thread above yours, I'm only just getting back into this after a few years off so im not too sure but a quick search I found a few post talking about it. 80% said it was just a mutation the rest talked about humidity levels and  some talked about substrate nutrition. Regardless of all that the thread responses said they were fine to consume it's just mycelium growing on top.

This is just a mutation that I see quite frequently.  Check my avatar and you'll see the same thing.  It's almost like the stem grows through the cap.  It is certainly nothing to worry about, your mushrooms are fine.
