That's my dilemma...
I've been eyeing the second one for a while, but then it wasn't available...I noticed it available again today, but then came across the first one.

They can both be set up with sticks and/or trekking poles, and don't necessarily need trees.
The first one is awesome, a tarp and a tent all in one. I could sit/sleep under the awning if it's too muggy, but it's a bit heavier, and needs a little more flat ground than the second one would. Not to mention it's over 50$ more.
That second one sure would be convenient, and a breeze to carry/use....but that awning on the first one tho...damn. This is difficult.

I don't think either one of them would survive an ice storm blizzard avalanche.

Dammit, yeah...that's the correct answer. I just feel it's a bit over-priced for what it is. It's a damn cool tent though...I'll sleep on it.
Maybe the second one will sell out again, and I'll have to get the first one.

You could always rig an awning with a tarp and maybe some PVC pipe or something? Just tie it down I front of the 2nd tent

Yeah, that would just defeat the purpose of the lightweight.
They both have perks, I just can't decide...

Oh snap dude- I have 5 tents right now- and am a camping pro.
It's all about getting a good spot- laying a ground tarp properly and knowing how to tie in the rain fly to the trees around you or stake.
WIsh I had time to talk about it now.
Maybe tomorrow night.
What is the subject or question?

I know how to tent, but I'm just having trouble making a choice. Read the previous page!
I'm leaning toward the second, it's just more universal, and hassle free. BUT, the first one is ALSO fairly universal, hassle free, AND it has more space, BUT that price.
What do I DO?? Get both, and spend more of my money? Or be smart, and just decide on one?
