Yeah- that might work. Shiitake are not near as aggressive as oyster though .
Oyster mycelium is insane. I took a fruit body from last week, choped it up, put it in some old cardboard that had been soaked, all open air, into a ziplock and it colonized in the open air, so I chainsawed a maple log today that had been down for a few weeks and stuck that stuff in there.
The crazy thing? The log that the Oyster fruits from was inoculated THE SAME WAY!
Seriously- oysters are so easy to grow.

It's crazy how aggressive that mycelium is!
I knocked up 3000 lions mane plugs this year. Took like 20 hours of hard work
Mostly red oak, maple, some white oak.

I've never even been, and it's so damn close...probably because state parks are kinda expensive, and can be tedious.
I used to love going to Enchanted Rock, used to do it a few times a year. However...last few times I went it was crowded, noisey, and you're not allowed to climb the rock at night anymore.

I've been meaning to go check that place out for a while. It's called Pace Bend now, looks like a nice area...but yeah I'm sure the democrats have ruined it with litter and noise pollution. Damn democrats and their biking groups too, think they own the trail systems...

You sure it was bat?
Most likely bird.

It's bats. Austin is famous for its bridge bats. I think there's like 2 or 3 different bridges they stay under. Millions of them, they look like smoke clouds in the distance.
