What do you love about Texas?
Texas is good in my book. Lived in College Station for a year or two, worked on a horse farm. Ya don't see many people on the roads(only roadrunners), so when passing someone, people wave! There's two schools there, so plenty of young people and stuff happening when going downtown; otherwise so quiet and peaceful.. great stargazing into the Big Sky.
The college kids (worked at barn) took me all over. Austin is kick-ass, so much to do and kind folks. Dallas is okay, not so much my scene. Went to Corpus Christi during spring break, and I cannot remember the name but checked out a barrier island that was absolutely stunning.
Texas gets a bad rep- there are certainly small hick towns there. People have their rifles on their passenger seats, it's true. But every single person I encountered there was friendly, genuine and generous. Very strong personalities and willed. And yes, there are mountains.. but it's pretty flat otherwise!

We appreciate the sentiment, sir. It certainly DOES have a bad reputation, but I can't imagine any of the people who bad mouth it have spent more than a week here, or even tried to go anywhere or experience anything.
If you went to Corpus, the island you most likely visited was either Padre Island or Port Aransas. But, you mentioned "absolutely stunning" ...so it was probably Padre Island. That's generally the prettier touristy area.
Austin used to be A LOT better, and simply not as fun/cool as it was about 15 years ago. San Antonio is a neat place, kind of like what Austin USED to be in some ways.

Padre Island it was! Twas' (omg I'm old) about 15 years ago. Shame to hear about Austin, seems these precious towns throughout the US get too big for their britches. Speak for myself, but I was pretty surprised before acclimating, there are beautiful gems in TX. I miss the slow pace and quiet sometimes.
I'm originally from NJ, so understand vastly unfair persecution.

Yeah, it's pretty uncool to be judged, and discriminated against for the color of your flag.

I don't know, maybe it's always been this bad, but the tribalism and blatant and egregious stereotyping from really every direction these days is just completely out of control.
We stereotype entire races, states, cultures, countries, political affiliations. Shoot we even stereotype entire genders.
Texas is a population of 29 million. 29 million different human beings reside in TX yet there are still somehow, even in the year 2021, sooooooooo many people who will judge, condemn and write you off immediately just because of what state you live in. And it's largely the fault of people's pathetic politics. As usual. Both sides. If you're a red state then the left hates everyone inside of it. Blue state, vice versa.
How are we so narrow minded now?
Anyway sorry for the rant, I swore in 2021 I would stop ranting about stuff like this

But thank you spider for not immediately judging us
Anyway how is yall's morning going

Texas is largely at fault for our massive Non Tax paying Mexican illegals stealing jobs from hard working Tax paying Americans. - Not to mention the drugs, cartels, sex trafficking's and other horrors that come with it.

I think it definitely has something to do with the red vs blue game, and whatever else they read about or hear on the TV. Probably has a lot to do with how they were raised, too...and how the parents behaved.
Don't apologize for the rant...it was a good one, but I hear you...a little les ranting from everyone would do the world a lot of good.
My morning was alright, getting ready to chainsaw some branches that broke from the snow...how about you?

LOL. Those first two videos are hilarious...swats at people when they get in his personal bubble. That's cute, defending his little sidewalk, keeping foot traffic moving.
The second one...I love shop cats. I have a cat who lays on his back like that, it's pretty funny. I don't think I've ever seen him with his arms all the way back like that though.

Even before we had a tv show, people assumed nj was trash. Mostly because they passed through the industrialized, polluted nj turnpike. Jersey Shore was the cherry on top.
I was actually living there when it first came on(and saw all them at a club once((I left))). They chose Seaside Heights to represent the 'Jersey Shore,' which is pretty run down and ghetto, especially since Sandy. Not a good image. Won't drop any names, but there is the vast contrast between locals and 'bennys'(tourists). Non-natives meld the two.
The way people think nowadays is 'guilty until proven innocent.' Thats not what our country was founded on, it's backwards, and I think we all need to get back to basics.
There's a fine line between ranting and hysteria. From a fellow ranter- I like yours, Niff!
