I foind a ton of these 5 days ago and they just keep coming! I had a longborn steer, until 4 montbs ago and he hung out in this barn every night. These shrooms are growing out of. Soggy patch of hay and cow dung.
I'm in East Texas, the Greeneville area and weve had more rain than we know what to do with. We've had temps in the mid 80's with watm nights.
The gills appear to be a greyish brown, but my vision is not great so I'll let the pbotos show you their colors. The gills are attached to the stem and the spore print looks black, to me.The gills of the older specimens appear dark brown to black.
The stem is thin (about the size of a toothpick), mostly hollow and white when freshly picked. It bends without easily breaking. Some have a small veil. Most of the veils are covered in black spores.
The cap has a central, reddish-brown umbo and a darker ring along the outside. This darker ring wipes off easily. The older ones are wrinkled and much lighter.
The cap starts out conical and then spreads out almost flat. It ranges in size from a BB to a nickle, so far.
I can't tell what color it bruises, but the pictures show most everything.
They dont smell very appetizing, but that cpuld be from where they're growing.

Awesome. Thanks for the info. They smelled so horrible, I wouldn't have been able to eat any, even if they were active! Gonna keep up the hunt.
