Robert Bobsky said: Hello, just finished building my first Flow Hood.
Here are a couple of pictures of a lighter held in front of it, it seems to me that the flow is a bit weak but I've never used a FH before so I'm not sure what to expect. It bends between 30 and 45 deg ... Yesterday I ran the FH for one hour and then opened an MEA petri in front of it for 10 minutes.. we'll see what happens. I really hope the blower is putting out enough juice..
What do you think?
Thanks!

I have an anemometer and I also get a weak "push" so to speak, yet my flame looks the same and is clocked @ .4 m/s which is considered to be laminar. Looks good to me. I work closer to the filter of the FH anyways. Maybe do a petri test and see for yourself. Edit: Doh. You shall see soon enough! Previous statement stands, looks solid.

Thanks, How long shall I wait to consider the plate test successful? I'm keeping my plates at around 75F (24C)

If you don't see any growth in a few days or a week they're clean.
Hold the lighter 6" away from the filter face when you do the test.
