Thanks Oh shit yeah that sounds awful, kids can be cruel man. I've had my fair share of scares with water too.

Haha I was about 7 or 8 when I learnt to swim, after being thrown in by an older brother! I’m now 53.
Personally, I wouldn’t “fuck around” with ANY dose of mushrooms; they have a habit of teaching one about respect. IMHO

I'm like a fish now, no fear and can swim very well. But she was a bitch for doing that, lol.

Yeah 5 grams in my head is like where I might one day take my mind as a last resort, certainly not a first resort
Imagine showing a kid how to swim. They COULD have this rare/innate capacity to tread water by instinct, but you wouldn't throw them into a 5 metre pool on that chance.
Hell, to carry on the analogy maybe you throw em in and they can't swim but at least they don't fully drown...how likely are they to get back in the water again?
Dip your toes dude, the water feels good even if you aren't doing a 50ft dive into it.
Great use of analogy there, you're very wise for a teenager.

True that Ed. For all the advice in the world I've been given on here I've still learnt more by getting a good psychedelic ass-whooping.
But especially for a first time I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

Well I'm 26 now, but I'm an old man in my head and a teenager at heart
I'm taking the compliment anyways!

Kids have health and safety these days. I don’t know how our generation survived

Why are you guys so weary of 5g? As if I don't know. The most I've taken is 8g dry. That blew the skin off my feet.
I do genuinely want to know why some of you don't test the waters a little further.
The swimming analogy is good but we are not dealing with a confined pool. Its definitely more of an ocean with terribly wonderful surprises. The solid thing is that the shore is usually just a few hours away.
Don't get me wrong I get very scared and even begin to tremble sometimes when eating the mushrooms.

For me these are the dose ranges I've grown comfortable with. I've had more than a few trips where I've said, "I don't need to go further right now".
I think there's an aspect of personal circumstances playing into how things will go, and people are very different.
I'm more comfortable gauging things on what I think of as average when helping newbies
Edit: Also I think there's a wildly larger range on mushroom strength than people give them credit for. One persons 3.5g could be another persons 5g.

A 5 gram your first time is the equivalent of throwing an infant child into the middle of the ocean to teach it how to swim. I highly recommend not doing 5 grams your first time, I have a friend who did 8 grams his first time by accident and luckily had a great time. But things can go seriously wrong man, just start off with 2 grams at most you will still get some cool visuals. Also shrooms are so much more than the visuals, you will understand when you experience it. The visuals are just icing on the cake, have fun man.

At 5 grams you will forget completely about the visuals assuming they are boomers. I started with around 2g for my first dose and I believe it is a great starting dose. 5g is more like a 3rd or 4th dose IMO
