Psilocybe mexicana : Jalisco grow question

I have a quick question about jaliscos. Im still very much a beginner in cultivating. However I've had 3 successful rounds of noc'ing MS BRF jars and so far every jar I've noc'ed has been successful all the way to fruiting. My most recent strains were treasure coast and jaliscos. I've done golden teachers, and B+ previously. Anyways they have all shown the healthy bright white mycelium as they should. However the jaliscos are looking much different. I inoculated them in the same still air box at the same time as the treasure coast. Every single one of the treasures are coming along just fine. However every single one of the jaliscos are looking very strange. I should have taken a picture but didn't. I will post some tonight. But they are growing mycelium but it's much slower and almost transparent, not the vivid white all the others have been. They also look to have a small amount of a yellowish tint in the middle where they first started. Definitely what I would think is dead give away for contamination. I'm only posting because as I said I haven't had a single jar with contam yet and I've done around 50. And the fact everyone is this way I just wanted a second opinion. Pictures will be uploaded tonight. I inoculated these jars about 2 and a half weeks ago. Some of the treasures are almost done colonizing and to the 7 day consolidation point. I'd say the best Jalisco is maybe 1/4 of the way colonized.

Jalisco isn't a cube. So it needs different nutrient profile.
I'm pretty sure I have never seen a Jalisco cake fruit. But not to worry. You can once fully colonized either leave it in the jar and it should produce sclerotia stones. Which is why you are seeing the yellow hue.
You can also shred it to a tray and case it with some Hpoo and Verm. Your gonna want to research this species and how to grow them. Use the search function and all the information you need is here on The Shroomery!

Best to post with pics. I know that P. Mexicana like other sclerotia yielding psilocybes should be grown from Rye grain and not BRF cakes as the vermiculite will be embedded in your truffles. I know from my P.Tampanensis agar plates that Sclerotia yielding mycelium starts out translucent until it gains ground then darkens to a misty yellow when ready to produce sclerotia.

BRF fruiting of stone producing psilocybes is for spores alone imo otherwise why do it? just a waste.

Sure, but having spores to germ fresh is always a good idea. Can’t rock the same genes forever.

Germing spore onto agar, than to rye grain is much more stable than BRF for stones and less vermiculite in your diet.

I’m talking noccing cakes for the sole purpose of fruiting mushrooms to obtain spore prints. It’s a quick and minimalist method that works. I can be done. That is my point.

Hey thanks for all the input. I was wondering if it was something about the strain and brf that was the issue. I am still going to upload pics in a few hours. I have known I was going to have to advance from brf to some sort of agar and bulk tek. Guess this is that push over the edge now.

Trust me when you get the first few stones about 4 months down the line you'll have no regerts.

Oh that’s tiny man if you’re putting four months into it I’d make it worth it.
With a half pint I’d just go for the mushrooms which are 2x cubensis potency.

I have 6 of those jars going. 22 of the Treasure Coast. Which ones are 2x potency?

I’m just now fruiting my first stone producer tub so I can’t say personally but fruits from atl/tamp/Mexicana are supposed to be around twice as potent as cubes.

Oh its easy to tell when it starts making stones. You'll think its contam and probably post pics. The myc turns yellow, knots, and then begins forming the sclerotia bodies which press up against the glass. Honestly its not very pretty imo. If you had read this tek here https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/17910649 you'd know what they start to look like.

The pic in my signature is jalisco's fruiting on cased brf cakes, they seem to do well on them. Just give them plenty of FAE and they seem to like heavy misting. Plus I find the fruits to be the strongest of the stone producers, about 3× the potency of cubes. Also those cakes are looking good to me!
