substrate colonization question. Air tight or FAE?
    #26704308 - 05/29/20 11:13 AM (3 years, 8 months ago)

One you have mixed your colonized grain into your bulk substrate should your tub/container be air tight so no air gets in or out, or does it need FAE or gas exchange during this period? Ive seen people do tubs with FAE holes during colonization period and then ive seen people with no holes at all during colonization period. My tubs are shoebox size and im growing golden teachers. Do i need my tubs to be air tight or do i need FAE or gas exchange hole during the colonization cycle? Thanks in advance for any and all help/advice!! Mush love everyone!!

I would place your tub in fruiting conditions immediately.
Provide proper FAE, heat, patience, and moisture.

Air exchange can only help it colonise faster and simplifies things.
Put into 'fruiting conditions' from the getgo and it will colonise and fruit a couple days quicker.

You can limit air exchange and only allow gas exchange for colonisation then put into fruiting once fully colonised that works also but is slower and no way more beneficial.

Just go by 'growing conditions' and once its colonised it will start to fruit by itself, no need to 'tell' it when to fruit
