Cannabis Help!
    #26704031 - 05/29/20 09:33 AM (3 years, 7 months ago)

Alright so I am trying my hand at growing some cannabis again... Have a few grows under my belt but I feel like I have forgotten a lot of information.

In the past I have always used teas to feed my plants and this time around I wanted to use TGA subcool's soil recipe in the bottom 1/3 of all my pots to feed plants throughout the entire grow.  Well.. my local grow shop has been slacking and then with COVID on top of that they haven't really been able to get everything I need.  So, I have plants that are ready to transplant and it looks like I am not going to be able to do the bottom 1/3 feeding layer.

I really don't want to use teas.  They are a pain in the ass, and they often smell really bad too. So I guess I am just hoping someone can give me some advice as far as feeding my plants for this grow.  I am gonna end up getting all the nutrients for the soil recipe and will just use them to add when needed I guess.

But is there anything I can do right now during transplant to help my plants out?  It's been 3 weeks in small pots and they have already ate up all the nitrogen so I'm guessing when I transplant into 7 gal pots they will go through all the nitrogen in the dirt within 4 weeks.

Is there anything I can add to my soil in the new pots to lower the amount of shit I will need to add between now and flower?

Any help appreciated.  sorry if this is an annoying question.. I hate asking shit like this when I have two books that undoubtedly have the info I need in them... I just haven't had the time to sit down and read/find it.

thanks.

Honestly there's no good way to make a "plug and play" kind of soil that will be good till harvest or even flower. The plants need different concentrations of nutes throughout the whole process. I like using very basic coco soil like Royal Gold  Basement or Tupur mix. Every transplant involves supplimenting Insect Frass and guano (nitro during veg and phos during flower/transitioning to flower) as well as benificial nematodes for pest control. I'll fill the pot up 1/3 with soil, scratch in some frass/guano/nematodes, place transplant into container, top up with soil and scratch in more frass/guano/nematodes on the top. That way all I'll do between transplanting is keep moist with home made compost tea a few times a week. When I was commercially growing I had veg, bloom and myco teas bubbling away at all times. Quality is off the charts compared to using store bough bottled nutes. However i must say that Earth Juice makes a fine organic product and cheaper than anything from GH or Botanicare.

Don't over complicate it.

1. Get some regular multi purpose compost, peat based is best.
2. mix it 50/50 with perlite.
3. use 2 gal pots minimum (drill holes in buckets works fine)
4. Water thoughroughly til it's running out the bottom of the pot
5. when it's almost dry by weight, (get used to the weight of the wet pot) water thoughroughly again.
6. When the plants are 2 weeks into flowering add 1 tsp of powdered posphrogen tomato food to the water once per week. (if you can't find phosohrogen use any powdered phospherous tomato feed)

7. enjoy.

If your tap water is real hard use rainwater, river water, pond water. If you only have real hard tap water, water it sooner than almost dried out, but don't over water.

This recipe will grow fine plants, you got much more chance of burning them with gucci nutrients and generally fucking it up the more you veer off the above plan.

I have a bag of... I think it is 5-5-5 fert.    Its the black magic home depot brand that is supposed to be good for all stages of growth.  I think I am gonna mix some of that in with my roots organic and see how it goes.

I have a whole bunch of shit on order at the shop though that I am gonna get.. I feel bad having them order it and not buying it now... they did fuck up by not ordering it in time but oh well.  Blood meal, rock phosphate, dolomite, azomite, humic acid.... If any of that will be useful I'll probably use it, maybe in a tea I guess.  Next grow though I am gonna try the soil mixture.

I used to make a tea with bloom guano i think it is called, mollasses, some ewc, and phosphate.  Worked pretty well in my opinon..  I just don't like cleaning up the mess and the smell.
