What am I looking at?

What am I looking at here?
It’s about two weeks since complete colonization and it smells fine.

Looks like it needs more air to kick off pinning if it’s been two weeks.
Possibly some bacteria too with those blobs.

These are in shoeboxes getting ambient light for like 8 hours a day. Isn’t the lid on shoeboxes sufficient for FAE? The blobs were the thing I was looking at, should I be worried?

What kind is this?
Shoeboxes should get enough air unless you’ve got the kind with a rubber seal.
But two weeks after full colonization with no knots is unusual.

if you're using the same 6qt sterilite shoeboxes that I do with the white lid, yes the lid allows FAE but I find that keeping a fan on low in the room helps(especially when you have a shelf of 10-20 boxes at a time )I kept getting fuzzy feet until I started putting the fan on low. I also crack the lid once the mushies reach it so they can push it up and get more air

This particular box is Huautla. I also have B+ right next to it that has been colonized for a week with no pins. I’m not sure what the deal is. 74 degrees average. Ambient light. I mist to form the water on the substrate. Also I haven’t snapped the lids in a couple days. The blobs formed over night on the one referenced initially.

They are the sterilite shoeboxes with white lids. I have ceiling fan that’s been going in the room the last couple days too. Probably on for about 10 hours a day. Maybe we’ll keep it on for the next few days as well.

Looking pretty bacterial to me. Not unusal for bacteria to produce the molasses-in-January effect. Might kick out some fruits. Might crap out. If it smells fine by your measure, give it another week.

did you use a top layer of coir when you spawned it? I wouldn't mist unless you absolutely need to or live somewhere super dry, the substrate should have enough water to support the first flush on it's own. The blobbing kind of looks what my myc does when water gets splashed on it when I soak the sub for another flush, matted and then fluffy.
The biggest takeaways from my first grow were 1) don't use too much water and 2) don't fuck with it and let it do it's thing. I know it's exciting for your first grow but trust me, it doesn't need to be looked at twice a day lol go for like twice a week. What helped me was just starting new cultures of different varieties to keep my attention.
My first few boxes I fucked with way too much, misted because I thought it was dry, left the lid open because it looked wet, etc. and they took a while to start producing and what they did produce were super tiny fruit. However since my attention was on those, the next round of boxes that were left to themselves performed way better and fruited much quicker.
Trust the tried and true methods if you do them correctly.

I did not use casting layer. I had read that it wasn’t required so I didn’t want to start running tests until I was more comfortable. I’ll go ahead and stop misting and run the ceiling fan for a couple days and check on it early next week. The b+ looks much less..... well here’s a photo. I think they look much better.
We’ll hope for good results.

Yeah I think you need more air.
The b+ looks healthy but again a week after full colonization with no knots is unusual.

It's not a true casing layer, to my understanding you case after full colonization. The top layer of coir is a "pseudo-casing" and it's supposed to help with surface moisture. I also just don't like the look of exposed grains lol. Check out this tek, has a lot of good info and helped shape my process. It works fine with the regular lid shoeboxes, you don't need to go get latching ones.

Sounds like a plan! We’ll keep the fan on to circulate the air.
edit: already know the answer to my dumb question.

I’ll check out the Tek later today. Thanks for your suggestions and replies!
I appreciate it!
