okay sorry ill be ultra clear this time: the original measurements I gave, 5g carbs, 2g agar, and 2g honey were all per 100ml water. in the same paragraph though I mentioned I used 400ml water, so in that specific case i used 20g carbs, 8g agar, and 8g honey. the link works now, thanks, though it turned out to be my most visited shroomery page
I've never heard of only 1% carbs, is that saturated enough? After reading this post - https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/19739087 - I got the idea that 6% was the ideal carb amount Where do you get dextrose?

Yeah I'd recommend either cling/saran wrap or parafilm. I like cling wrap personally.

You'll find almost nobody on this forum who uses above 3% total nutrients. Sorry I took you out of context, but with 7% nutrients you're right around what the top of what's usable. Higher nutrients tend to give dense bright white growth, but quite slow.
Brewing stores are a good place to find dextrose (corn sugar) as well as various malt extracts. A respectable bag of either should be under 5$.
--------------------
I spawned some popcorn casings and had double-overlay cause I didn't put enough hydrogen peroxide in my automated aquarium mister. I only got one mushroom so I cut off the head part where the seeds fall from and put it in a jar of LC and sprayed it all over a tin of PF cakes I made with gravel, cardboard, and bisquick in my microwave. I think it will be good cause B+ is so potent. Triggered yet? Only a square would say "a cube is a cube."
No, this does not look right...

Hmm. I'll definitely have to try it out with less nutrients then. Thanks for the brewing store tip, I've been searching on amazon and anything respectable is at least $50

If you are going to a brewing store, buy light malt extract (powderred NOT liquid) and you will won't look back. . .
Dextrose is like feeding yourself only white bread with nothing else. . . Malt extracts have a crazy nutrient profile, more like bread with butter, peanut butter and some jam on Thursdays. . . The more you look on his site, the more you will see that malt is king. . .
Be aware though, it's hydroscopic AF and you need to keep it air tight and exposed to the atmosphere as little as possible. I have a big and small jar. . . Small for working, big for storing. . .
I started with 3% nute, and got white fluff. . . Dropped to 1.5% and I now get fast growth, as the myc is 'looking' for food, not just chilling getting fat. . . Rhizo growth is often a result of less nute, for the same reason. . .

A comparison between grain water and brf. Plates. I just thought I would share this... All plates have colonize grain from the same spawn jar (B+) The brf. plates was a thinner growth brf. and grew just a little faster.
9/21 to 9/25 6 grams brf. 9 grams telephone agar 500 ml. water

9/21 to 9/25 10 grams telephone agar 500ml. grain water from oats

This is a sample of what most of my grain water plates look like at seven days..

what grains have you had the most success with? Also where do you find those oats? I've seen large flake oats that make oatmeal but that doesn't look anything like yours.

You can find oats at any feed store for horses. Every town has a feed store for animals.
I exclusively use oats for spawn. It's fast and cheap and reliable and great bi-product (grain water for agar plates)
My prep. recipe Is posted earlier on this thread.

Unfortunately I'm in urban Canada, so finding a store that would sell bulk anything is difficult, let alone bulk feed/coir/substrate. But I'll figure something out. Thanks!

You can easily order the products needed and even just powder pre-mix. Works great for me
