Best way to keep pressure cooker safe to use?
    #26702827 - 05/28/20 09:50 PM (3 years, 7 months ago)

So my PC is fine, but I want to keep it that way. I honestly dont like using it, and I have to PC a ton of jars so I want to feel as comfortable as possible. I know about using some kind of oil on the rubber gasket, but not sure what kind. Please give me your insight on this. Thank you.

You will use mineral oil to keep your rubber gasket good.
Otherwise just follow proper safety instructions as best you can.
Keep it clean of water deposits.

I bought mine used and it didnt come with any, but yea I shouldve just looked online. You guys usually have some really good tips though... and I genuinely enjoy coming here rather than google. I rememver the mineral oil now that you said it. I just make sure everything isnt clogged, and use the mineral oil.

It depends what type of PC you have. Usually they have the pamphlet online. I’d check for that. The pamphlet I have has all the instructions on how to keep it clean and in safe working order.

Doesn't have to be mineral oil. Vegtable, olive, argan. Any kind of canola oil will work.

Yeah I came to say I'd been using olive oil with no explosions yet but it is about time for a new gasket, buddy likes to leak a little while venting but is fine once pressurized. OP if you ever feel like your gasket is getting sketchy you can get a new one online for a few bucks

It's probably fine. Even if it's not fine, it'll eventually be fine. So it's fine.
