The bell shaped caps are P. Subsecoitides, very similar to subs in habitat, size, colouring etc but they have that downward curved wrinkly edge, they can also look like weraroa pouch fungus when the fruits are small and young

I don't know, I think they're just subs with a slight secotioid resemblance

Had a good little haul today wandering around in torrential rain, keeps the public at bay. Problem is I keep finding them opposite a girls school, as a middle aged man I feel extra sketchy lurking round in the bushes.....

Hi everyone I hope you're all doing well.
Rotorua isn't showing much apart from a few starting over this last week, have checked usual spots, hopefully have some larger more developed pins to check in on in a few days

Eat enough so you'll trip, but don't go too crazy with the dose for your first time, you don't want to overwhelm yourself. If you're anything like me, you wont want to be in public while you're tripping, so take them in a place you feel comfortable and plan to stay for the duration of the trip. Another thing, my first time ever doing mushrooms, they were prepared as a tea, and that was the only time I've had a good trip (lmao), so if you'd prefer to drink them as a tea as opposed to eating them, consider that! Most of all, make sure you're in a good mood with cool people you trust around (if you're not tripping alone). Update us on how it goes!

I've had no issues with drying, you just have to cut them in half first and maybe dry them longer than subs since they have such a thick cap.
Beautiful pic btw

Hey everyone, about to head out on my first hunt in rural Northland and was wondering if anyone has any advice or tips. I've seen a lot of posts about hunting in the cities and just wanted to know if there are any differences for hunting out in the bush. Cheers

Where abouts in northland are you? I've been finding them in northland but also only in town. Check out the barkchip garden beds in council gardens, otherwise I guess pine forests are maybe your best bet. As a first timer I was a bit careless, I'd suggest you keep in mind that you might want to come back a second time to harvest the goodness. Tread lightly and carry scissors.
